Copper/amber in color, cloudy, strong in alcohol (6.8% ABV). Clean lager character with some fruity ale notes. Earthy with flavors of tea and forest nuts. Distinct balance between malt and hops allows the creamy texture to really come through. We earned a medal at the Great American Beer festival in our first year of business with this one and it remains our house specialty to this day.

Tap at airport. Reddish amber color, shirt lived white head. A sweet aroma with hints of apple and fruit. Taste is unexpected. hoppy, but with a malt body and lots of esthers and fruit. Ends very well balanced with a fruity/bitter kick.

I dont have a sophisticated palate like others on here. I enjoyed this beer. Not a top favorite, but its got a nice mild "porter" taste, but none of the heaviness of a typical porter or stout.

Aroma is yeasty and fruity cherry with a touch of cereal malt. Appears blood orange red with nice white foam and lace. Tastes bitter up front of charred malt, mildly sweet apple fruitiness, a touch of cherry. Palate is slightly fizzy, but nearly ordinary. Overall, solid, tastes like a red.

Tap at brewery. Super dark reddish brown. Light head. Bready nose. Tastes a bit like a red, but is mostly yeasty, fruity, a bit heavy. Nice!

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a nice hazy amber to copper color with a half fingers worth of white foamy head. When it started to dissipate, there was some stringy lacing. The smell had a roasty sort of nutty/fruitiness. The taste was nutty sweet. There was a creamy malty aftertaste with the pretty much the same kind of finish. On the palate, it sat fairly light to show a decent sessionability about it. Overall, hey, not a bad altbier. I could see myself having this again and possibly even having it with its respected food.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2014 Aroma is strong, but reminds me of the amateur homebrewer - dank, earthy basement smells, not appealing. Taste was better, but average at best. Tried again in glass and let it breathe for a minute at a better temperature. Much better. I get the fruit notes in the beer much better.

Pours dark copper with a thin white head; lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is toasted malts and hop with a hint if grassiness. Taste is a bright pop of moderately bitter hops with a floral finish. Full bodied, lively carbonation. Nice brew! Way to go Motown! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At an airport lounge in Detroit; I wanted to go local. Flavourful, sweet malts, nicely balanced. Just what I want for an airport layover.

Clear medium to dark amber, decent head fades to ring but leaves nice lace. Aroma lightly of toasted malts. Fairly clean lager profile, emphasis on toasty malts. A hint of slightly earthy hops too. Nicely done, seems to be Detroits version of Richmonds Legend Brown

On tap at the DTW airport. Pours a clear amber, small beige head with some decent lacing.. Smell is of malt.. Taste is of malts, with a tinge of fruity undertones and some caramel. Great mouthfeel, and the alcohol is well masked for a good session beer.
