I didn’t think I’d ever do it, but I have to give this a perfect 5. I don’t think there ever has been or ever will be a beer this good. In fact, I’m not even sure if it exists... maybe I don’t even exist. A MASSIVE thanks to Paul and Matt for graciously pouring a hefty serving of this at the ORF release tasting. It was like drinking sex with bourbon and chocolate being drizzled over you while bathing in a pool of butter.
Yeah. Super smooth, incredibly delicious, and almost unfair how good it was. Cheers to Paul and everyone at Duck Rabbit for making this brew. tjthresh (1873) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - FEB 9, 2009
Sampled at the Sexual Chocolate release. The pour is just black. The aroma is huge with vanilla. It comes off very much like creme brule. I tasted a complex blend of vanilla, and booze, and rasins, and caramel and toffee, and probably a shit ton more that I didn’t get down. Big rich full body. What a meal. I’m not as high on regular baltic porter as most folks, but this stuff is the truth. Thanks to MrFacto and FumptyDumpty for sharing. This was easily the highlight of Friday night, and probably the weekend. egajdzis (6613) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 27, 2009
Opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, oak, bourbon, smoke, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and alcohol. Taste of dark chocolate, smoke, vanilla, oak, wood, nuts, tobacco, and bourbony alcohol finish. Thanks Ryan! johnnnniee (4346) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 8, 2013
On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013
Solid black color. Aroma of chocolate covered cherries with a hint of coconut. Outstanding chocolate fruity flavor with hints of vanilla and sweet smooth bourbon. Thick body with a creamy silky mouthfeel. Incredible beer. Smooth complex and tasty. StFun (567) - Indiana, USA - FEB 13, 2009
A true stand out. Pours an inky black with an almost red hue. Aroma is heaven: wood, vanilla, chocolate, toffee, lactose, and a hint of bourbon. Flavor is much the same, with everything hanging in a great balance. Great complexity here, but the complexity never becomes muddled and the flavor comes through perfectly. On a night when the rarest of the rares were being popped, this one took the prize as far as I am concerned. Truly delicious. Can’t wait for the official release so that I can try this one again. I am a big fan of DR, and this might be their best one yet.

From a bottle shared at the pre-release of Olde Rabbit’s Foot (thanks to Paul and Matt). Black pour with very little head. Rich aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Vanilla bourbon flavor that blends beautifully with this incredibly good Baltic Porter. It’s quite unfair that I’ve tried this and you have not. I would love to see this released to the public. mixmasterob (1057) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - FEB 26, 2012
Easily one of the best smelling beers I came across @ Brewvival this year. Incredibly rich bourbon, chocolate, roast and more bourbon. Wow this was good. Flavors were decadently smooth and full of roasted malt, cocoa, bourbon and wood. Finish was slightly bittersweet and overly satisfying. Mouthfeel was thick and coating. Awesome indeed. drowland (8828) - Georgia, USA - AUG 8, 2013
Sampled during CBC 2013. Awesome stuff right here. Almost black pour with a nice tan head that sticks and laces well. Great BA aroma, vanilla, fudgy, some chocolate, a hint of dark fruits, and more. Can’t wait to taste. Yep, also awesome. Dark fruits, fudge, vanilla, coconut, butterscotch/toffee (in a good way), nuttiness even, and a good balance of barrel and base. Really glad this was on tap.. awesome! JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 9, 2009
Okay, this was just insane. As a devotee of the regular DR Baltic, I was wondering what to expect from this treat that Ryan and Matt brought to Pre-Sex. Could the milky depth of the base beer possibly benefit from the barrel or would it just be a train wreck? This was superb, surpassing all expectations and possibly the hit of the weekend to everyone who tried it. Lovely nose, with soft cherry and vinous notes. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy, with the whisky flavors oh so subtly enlivening the beer and giving it further complexity. Almost like a very fine old ale in its richness. Tremendous. First of all- holy $&@#! Got a good sample of this straight from Paul and Matt at the pre-release for ORF at Foothills. Huge thanks to you guys!!!!
Pours fairly black, more super dark amber, with a small deep brown, menacing head. Aroma is simply the best smelling beer I have ever encountered: amazing Buffalo Trace bourbon, rich sea salted caramel, creme brulee, gourmet toffee, vanilla extract. Taste is very complex- actually this is less intense and in your face as the normal DR Baltic. This is more refined, smoother, way more dark fruits, dates, raisins showing through. Lots of creme brulee, caramel, sea salt, chocolate as well. Less roasty and less coffee- more fruits and bourbon. Unbelievably smooth. Simply retarded awesome. Tears of joy streaming down my face. Hurry up and get this bottled in 750s!!!!!
