COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American brown ale brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (its hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo hops in the boil provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops in the fermentor provide a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by a grain bill of seven varieties of malt.

Had on tap at Howards pub in Ocracoke. decent middle of the road ale- not too heavy, or dark, or filling, or anything really.......not sure I quite understand the "brown ale" style- just seems to be having a minor identity crisis. Not quite a porter, but not a pale ale. decent flavor of coffee and chocolate- some hoppiness but not too bitter. somewhat refreshing- sort of like a darker beer you would still drink in the summer. Unfortunately HC pluff mud has that category all wrapped up for me.

12 oz from Tavour. A little hoppier and drier than most browns with a diverse malt aroma and flavor. A little thin and dry, better than ok - but not quite into the good/very good range.

Poured from a bottle. Pours a medium brown with a thin tan ring. Caramel and roasted malt aroma. Fairly smooth start with a light malt flavor and a medium hop bite. I prefer more malt balance and less hops in a dark beer. Finish is very bitter. Drinkable but not that enjoyable.

Not a bad drink. oasty malt flavor with touch of hop balance. Their is a slight sweetness and fruit ester flavor. Rather bland watery mouthfeel overall though.

12 oz bottle from the AOPD beers each month The ale poured a clear brown color with small head and limited lacing. There is a nice roasted malt aroma that greets you. The taste is more complex with nuts and roasted malt. The ale has a light body with soft carbonation. The finish was clean with hop flavors closing out the beer..

(Bottle). Nice choice for an autumn weekend during PSU parents weekend. Slightly hazy amber complexion. A mildly malty and hoppy brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favorite breweries but this is not their best beer yet still a very good one. Great aroma escapes the bottle immediately after it is opened. Color is a rich redish brown with foamy full head. flavor is of roasted nuts and toffee. smooth but a bit week but not too bitter.
