UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a brown in color with a nice red hue around the edge of the glass it had a small light brown creamy head that was mostly diminishing and had good lacing.
The aroma was moderate of a nutty grain malt, a light resin hop and a mild leathery yeast with notes of caramel, chocolate and a mild dose of coffee.
It tasted moderately sweet with hints of chocolate and caramel in the beginning, and finished a bitter-sweet with a nice light roasted coffee flavor and a touch of chocolate at the end. The flavor was left hanging on the taste buds for a nice long while, thus allowing for a full melding of all the flavors.
Mouthfeel was full in body and nice and creamy in texture with the carbonation being rather flat.
Overall an exquisite brown ale with tons of flavor, tasting so good it leaves you wanting more...

12 oz from Tavour. A little hoppier and drier than most browns with a diverse malt aroma and flavor. A little thin and dry, better than ok - but not quite into the good/very good range. altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - JUL 2, 2016

Poured from a bottle. Pours a medium brown with a thin tan ring. Caramel and roasted malt aroma. Fairly smooth start with a light malt flavor and a medium hop bite. I prefer more malt balance and less hops in a dark beer. Finish is very bitter. Drinkable but not that enjoyable. ryanscourt (1453) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 14, 2015
Not a bad drink. oasty malt flavor with touch of hop balance. Their is a slight sweetness and fruit ester flavor. Rather bland watery mouthfeel overall though. Foxbush (2003) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - OCT 28, 2015
12 oz bottle from the AOPD beers each month The ale poured a clear brown color with small head and limited lacing. There is a nice roasted malt aroma that greets you. The taste is more complex with nuts and roasted malt. The ale has a light body with soft carbonation. The finish was clean with hop flavors closing out the beer.. (Bottle). Nice choice for an autumn weekend during PSU parents weekend. Slightly hazy amber complexion. A mildly malty and hoppy brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone lobosaintori (89) - - AUG 28, 2015
One of my favorite breweries but this is not their best beer yet still a very good one. Great aroma escapes the bottle immediately after it is opened. Color is a rich redish brown with foamy full head. flavor is of roasted nuts and toffee. smooth but a bit week but not too bitter.
