COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Duck-Rabbit Hoppy Bunny American Black Ale is both intensely hoppy and intensely BLACK! Eight separate hop additions offer delicious bitterness and beguiling hop aroma/flavor. Heavily represented among these hops are Chinook, which provides deep pine and sticky citrus components and a New Zealand hop called Motueka, from which we get bright fruit and spearmint notes.

Bought at Winslow’s on 09/30/13. Creamy light-brown mostly diminishing head, virtually no lacing. Muddy body with a black hue. Bitter moderate orange/citrus hop up front, short bitter orange finish. Full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation and light alcohol feel. I thought I may have noticed some charcoal/smoke taste in this beer. I had a hard time recognizing everything that was going on with this beer.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 Draft at Harrikas in Cedar Point, NC. Served in a plastic pint cup, very dark brown color with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, light coffee and chocolate with fruity hops. First taste hit is the hops, citrus/piney, followed by the roast notes that are more heavy then the nose. Medium body, medium carbonation, bitter, roast-y with lingering obvious bitter roast-y finish. A pleasing black IPA.

First impressions are misleading, taste-wise... seemed too bitter, but the more you taste the better it gets. Nice black color and thick head.

Poured from a bottle. Dark brown color, large tan frothy head. Hops and burnt malt with alcohol smell. Strong a bitter beyond belief on the initial sip, but gets really good after that, palate adapts and you taste a great combination of c hops and malt.

12 oz bottle. BBE 9/13. (Beverage World) Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
Black colour with a red hue and a small tan head. Roasted malt, liquorice, hints of coffee and mild hops in a delicious aroma. Roasted malt, liquorice, coffee, ash and bitter hops in the flavour. Perfect balance. Tasty. Nice bitter aftertaste. Very nice!

from a bottle this is a full bodied and full of roast black IPA. Its more on the dark and porter side, than the lighter IPA side. But it is full of flavor and delicious.
