COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains which give this delicious beer its black color.

Reviewed 9-13-10. I’ve had this one before, but never on tap. I went with my wife to the Hard Times Cafe in Woodbridge, VA and this was the last beer of my session: Ap: Pours almost totally black, with slight hints of light shining through as the session progressed. It had about 1/6 inch of head and the carbonation was undetectable, due to the dark color of the beverage. Ar: Roasted grains and coffee, but definitely not Maxwell House...something more gourmet. T: Great balance. The detectable lactose smooths out the coffee, adding sweetness, body, and thick texture. I tasted this right after the pour in which the beer may be colder than craft beer drinkers like it to be. This stout (and milk stouts in general) actually taste good that way - sort like a milkshake. P: I already mentioned thick texture, but perhaps a better word would be creamy. O: If I’m really in the mood for stouts and this one is available, I could drink this all day. This is the best beer in Duck Rabbit’s standard lineup.

Had first at mom's house. How come it took me so long to find this? Really good milk Stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Total Wine in Orlando, FL. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa. Taste is mild unsweetened cocoa soda, dry roasted malt soda. My first Duck-Rabbit so I was probably expecting more (even though this is a Sweet / Milk Stout).

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a pitch black with a half-finger of beige head. Roasted coffee, prune and toasted granola. Medium body, great balance. Lingering chocolate and coffee notes. Touch of latte on the finish. I like this.

From 12 ounce bottle bought as part of a mix 6 pack from Ingles Supermarket in Lake Lure, North Carolina, tasted on July 26, 2017. Very dark brown/amber color, intense aroma of roasted malt/licorice/lactose/coffee/a bit of chocolate, good roasted malt/coffee/lactose flavor that’s not as big as the nose advertised but still quite decent.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Dark reddish-brown with a thin off-white head. Has a sweet nose, with a mildly sweet dark malt taste rather than any stated roasted malts.

Bottle. Black with a huge tan head, delaying pour. Creamer, milk chocolate, vanilla wafers and slight earthy aromas. Has a subtle chocolate milk flavor that is less sweet. Heavier body with a smooth feel.
