This beer is classified variously on different websites. Whatever style it is, what I get is a boozy, somewhat fizzy dark ale that isn’t bad, but nothing too special either. Wim (3954) - Weelde, BELGIUM - NOV 6, 2015
At Home along with Yves black colored body with an off-white head and with a malt hop chocolate aroma a chocolate sweet slightly bitter taste with a bitter finish Yves (3033) - Turnhout, BELGIUM - NOV 1, 2015
Shared with wim at his place. Dark brown colored beer with large off-white head and no carbonation visible. Roasted malty coffee aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is coffee bitter dry. jgb9348 (6191) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Deep dark brown coloured body with a cola coloured glow at the bottom, but a ridiculously large six centimetre tall brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, nuts, earth and a hint of very light hops - some pit fruits as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and piney hoppy flavours poking out through the earthy malt and a little nuttiness shows, but the big flavours are the prunes, nuts and a very creamy finish. Aftertaste shows a good balance of deeper malty notes with the nuts and a lot of piney hoppy flavours coupled with some creamy finishes. Overall, a surprisingly good and complex beer that shows well for the style. I wasn’t expecting much from this one except for an over-hyped and reputation-rating following, but this actually followed through with a well-crafted beer. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 25-April-2014 for US$4,00 sampled at home in Washington on 09-October-2014. Idiosynkrasie (7423) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 22, 2014
330ml bottle. Ruby red glowing, darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Malty aroma has a cocoa touch, hoppy and yeasty overtones with hints of blue grapes, plum, raisin, a vinous touch, hints of thinner. Taste is dry dark malty with hints of cocoa, some roast, some dark fruit; bitter roasty finish.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, dunkle reife Früchte, Karamell. Geschmack röstmalzig, Karamell, dunkle Früchte. mansquito (6323) - Nueva York, New York, USA - MAR 29, 2014
New Beer Distributors, NYC 11.2 oz: Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is hops, fruits, a hint of chocolate, some burnt malts. I didn’t really know what to expect from this, but I got an interesting, but simple brown ale with a nice little fruity undertone. This is a nice easy-drinking but subtle beer. mjs (7156) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 15, 2014
(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB , courtesy of rosenberg, 20140315) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had liquorice, coffee and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burntness, fruitiness, pine, ash and bitterness. Afteraste was burnt, hoppy and bitter. A very burnt brown ale, thin hoppy stout or a burnt black IPA. Despite the style the end result was confusing. VastActiv (6938) - Oulu/Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 15, 2014
Bottle 0.33l at Helsinki. Thanks to Rosenbergh. Colour is black with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, hints of citrus, burntness, hops and malts. More like Black IPA than brown ale.
