Love this! Good dark brown colouring, small tan head. Lovely and smooth. Would like to try more.

Small sample. Old note. The aroma has piney hops, roast. Dark coloured beer with a medium sized head. The taste is moderate bitter with strong piney hops and a roasted malty backbone. Medium bodied beer. Decent.

What a bonfire of flavors. It starts with spicey, hoppy, tropical twist. To finish with smokey, malty kind of chocolately body.

Bottle at home. Pours deep brown, nose is grapefruit, pine, coffee, taste is fruity and roasted.

Beese (2673) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2014
Bottle from the Kernel Brewery (back in 2013). Poured a hazy, dark brown colour, with a halo of off-white head. Aroma of citrus hop, dark chocolate and liquorice. Pine hop bitterness, mixed with roasted malt and some molasses. Finish was burnt toast, hop resin and coffee.

Murky brown color, small off-white head. Hops, sweet licorice. Medium-bodied. Salty licorice, toasted notes, nice resiny hoppyness. Nice beer.

Fin porter. Ikke meget aroma. Brunligt let forgængeligt skum. Cremet bitterhed med fin kulsyre. Kaffe og jord i eftersmag. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the brewery. It’s been on my shelf for a while, mainly because black IPA is not really my favourite stye. When it pours it gushes out, but I’m ready with a glass. Colour is dark brown with some reddish clarity but a little opaque. The nose is amazing though. Big zingy citrousy hops, grapefruit, lemon and a hint of lime. Some tropical papaya and a little mango. The head is nice and creamy. On the taste is big zingy hops, citrous grapefruit, lemon, lime, papaya, underneath which is some nice roasted malt. Big bold hops with some nice roasted malt to balance. Finish is grapefruit citrous bitter and some roasted malt and black coffee bitter.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black beer with a medium sized, beige head on top. Head leaves decent lacing. Aroma is still very hoppy, despite this being an older bottle. (bottle date Jan 29 2013), full aroma’s of licorice, molasses, grapefruits and other citric fruits. Aroma is well balanced between the malty darkness and hops. Flavor reflects that perfectly. Starts off sweet and malty, but the hoppiness start to take over the flavor somewhere in the middle. Finishes quite bittersweet and long. Great balance again! Nice

[email protected] VIII (thanks teddybeer). Deep amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is quite black ipa and flavour too. Wellmade, but umm. Too black ipa for being anything for taste.

laiti (8374) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 24, 2013
33 cl bottle @ PBF VIII. Bottled 29.01.2013, BBE 29.05.2013
Aroma has hops, some fruity notes, vanilla and hints of raspberries. Flavour has harsh bitterness, some roasted notes and nuts. Decent BIPA.
