Sour roasted malt nose with a bit of whiskey and port. Full body, sour whiskey port medium coronation lots of dark fruit, dark fruit, like eating a ton of plums. A fantastic sour stout. Gangstergafje (1142) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - MAY 31, 2016
I had the beer at the Kaapse Brouwers 2nd anniversary festival. The beer looks like a proper stout. The color is brown, almost black. A nice thick brown layer of soft foam rests on top of the beer. It collapses over time. After a while a nice drape is left. The smell is delicious. I smell roasted barley, chocolate and coffee, the three important aromas for a stout. There is a strong alcohol aroma and a lovely slightly sour oak barrel smell. It reminds a little of red wine, that also has a strong barrel aroma to it. It is a little like a barley wine. The barrel aroma tends to have the overhand a little, maybe they should age it a little bit shorter. The taste is less oaky. It has a nice red wine like oak barrel flavor, together with coffee and roasted barley. A nice beer it is. mike_77 (6660) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - MAY 22, 2016
Black with thin head. The aroma has a dry woody tartness. Almost funky. Rich texture. Again a light tartness ip front before the bitter roasted malts push through. MarcoDL (4920) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 21, 2016

Tap at Kaapse 2nd Anniversary. Black with tan head. Roasted chocolate malts, berries, dark fruit, coffee, wine notes, wood notes. Over medium sweet, medium cocoa bitterness. Over medium body, low carbonation. Light grainy otherwise smooth texture. Nice stuff! Like the fruity and wine notes in the middle of all the dark flavors. UPDATED: AUG 24, 2016 Pours very thick, oily and black. Immediately felt good about this beer. Aromas of vanilla, coffee, chocolate. Taste is smooth, sweet with a dry, roasty finish. Body is very full with an oily and creamy texture. Superb. The_Osprey (7984) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2014
Aug 2013 - At LCBF as ’Whiskey Aged Stout 7.7%’. 1/2 pint. Black, big tan head. Smells of crayon, roasted barley. Body is medium to heavy. Taste - whiskey is mild - it imparts some vanilla and cream without becoming the main event. Slightly sour. Some coffee and liquorice. Lovely balance. I’m impressed. k0mpsa (2964) - Tuusula, FINLAND - NOV 8, 2014
