Draught at Uncle Babe’s in Ghent, shared with Ster. Thin, snow white, moussy head, stable around the edge; hazy straw blonde with lime green hue. Aroma of lime juice, soapy starfruit, white bread, gooseberries, passion fruit, dough, minerals, melon, damp hay, orange zest, gypsum, something sweaty but not in a disturbing way. Crisp, fruity onset, unripe melon, cucumber and softly lime-like aspects, fizzy carbo but still smooth, yet somewhat soapy mouthfeel, soft wheaty and doughy backbone, bready edges, ongoing gooseberry- and lime-like tartness with dryish effect, but not sour. Finishes with an addition of zesty, grapefruity hops providing retronasal aromas much more than any bitterness; yeasty feeling too, and ending in a weird, very chalky note. Postmodern farmhouse ale the Anglo-Saxon way, interesting beer but that chalky thing bothered me a little bit. This brewery clearly excells in APAs, IPAs and stouts, but so far these "biere de saisons" have failed to impress me as much as those other offerings have done. bytemesis (9811) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 20, 2017
Bottle with props to Ben! Pours clear pale yellow, medium fizzy white head, dissipates quickly leaving some residual and lacing. Aroma is citra, some buttery peach, grass, oak tannin. Flavor has a bit of sweetness, very light bitterness, some tropical and buttery peach notes. Light body. Hugely drinkable but not overly complex. melush (5320) - SPAIN - MAY 12, 2017
