3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from brewery. Colour is clear to murky dark brown, tan head. Nose is big punch of black coffee, dark chocolate coming through and some hints of caramel. Taste is rich black coffee, pure dark chocolate and some nice hints of caramel on the finish with some light bitterness. Body is quite light and on the watery side but this is a really good beer.
Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, nose is roasted, cacao, chocolate, taste is similar, dry, bitter. _angst_ (4810) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 14, 2014
Bottle bought @ beermerchants.com. Pours dark brown with a creamy dark mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is malty with roasted malts, sweet dark bread, cocoa powder, moist soil, charred wood, instant coffee powder, hay and hints of caramel. Taste is bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, pumpernickel bread, bitter chocolate, burnt cookies, instant coffee, moist soil, charred wood, yeasty dough, lemon zest and hay. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny roasted astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, pumpernickel bread, cocoa powder, moist soil, charred wood, lemon zest and hay. Solid highly drinkable chocolate porter that I served with chocolate which was another solid beer/food pairing. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 2, 2013
Bottled 27/07/13. A near black beer with a little off-white coloured head. Lots of coffee in here behind a bitter beggy background. The nose is surprisingly thin at first but then the coffee shows itself. You need to like coffee to get the most out of this but it is flavoursome enough and there is a little fruity hop, Cunningham (8258) - Halden, NORWAY - JUL 9, 2013

Bottle at home, 28th march 2013. Another great kernel beer, roasty aroma, some cocoa coming through, taste is toasty malt, some hops, good dark chocolate. Nice porter, delicious really The_Osprey (8682) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2013
Oct 2012 - concentrated roasted barley is the main flavour and imparts a fuller body. Taste is very similar to the beers I made myself in 2009 (which were basically made from over-concentrated barley with a fair bit of hops). Not very special, and I couldn’t pick up much flavour from the cacao nibs which had been added. The_Bish (1123) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - FEB 3, 2013
mmmm.... lovely with flapjacks. Did I ever tell you that my missus makes kick-ass flapjacks? If I didn’t, then I should, and they’re getting better. Some choc, rich, medium body, really tasty, I feel spoilt.
