Based on a recipe from a London Brewery in 1890.
Simple recipe, massive taste. Dark, dark black. Oily texture. Loads of rich dried fruit and alcohol warmth rum and raisin. Then a herbal hop bitterness on top of huge lingering espresso. Hints of leather, tar, smoke, vanilla and chocolate. Roasty.

Bottle. Pours black with a nice brown head leaving good lacing. Fantastic aroma with roasted malts, coffee and some chocolate. Taste is like you would expect from the aroma with roasted malts, chocolate and some sweetness. Very smooth texture and quite a dry finish with some bitterness and a nice lingering taste of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Another great brew from the Kernel.

Black with medium brown head. Aroma is molasses, coffee beans, slight fish. Taste is dry, a bit spicy, rather harsh coffee bitterness. But oily and velvety.

Aroma: rich and roasty with coffee; Appearance: pitch black with creamy tan head that lingers; Taste: follows nose with gentle nudge of booze; smooth and sweet; very nice; Palate; huge heavy body with long roasty finish; Overall: very nice. Would definitely get again.

Bottle at Sourced Market, Victoria. Sweet coffee fruity aroma. Dark and glossy. Thick beige head. Light bitter with a sour berry edge. Sugary coffee. Much smoother than the flat white I just had. Thick bodied. Slick and creamy. Average carbonation. Low key finish. For the ABV this is a really light, easily drinkable, stout. Good stuff.

Version with 7 % ABV. Fantastyczne ciemne piwo jak czekolada o zawartosci kakao 99%. Piana pelna pechezykow ciemna, bezowa. Spora lecz opada szybko, ale znaczy i oblepia szklo. Fantastyczny aromat, ciemnego pieczywa, makowca dobrze wypieczonego. W smaku piernik zalany hiszpanskim winem malaga. Pelno rodzynek, trufle i mufinka czekoladowa. Alkohol ukryty. Mimo lekkiej slodyczy jest tu spora dawka palonego slodu i goryczki chmielowej. Na zakonczenie czekolada gozka ze srednim wloskim espresso. Niemal rewelacja. Goraco polecam po wieczornym posilku.

A proper dark stout, with chocolate and coffee notes - very slightly sweet, but mostly delicious roasted flavour! Lovely! 330ml bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants
