Keg at Nates’s Birthday Bash. It pours opaque black, with a thick tan head. The nose is chilli, smoke, some roasted malt, meat, chocolate and liquorice. The taste is chilli, vanilla, chocolate, booze, meat, spice, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, treacle, roasted malt and salt liquorice, with a big dry finish. Full body, average carbonation and good balance. Nice. EdKing (2629) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2011
Off keg at Nate’s b’day, The Kernel. Pours black/very dark brown with nice foamy tan head. Nose is what one would expect from the brown stout, with coffee and chocolate, minerally, roasted malt. I got a bit of the chilli coming through like when you’ve just sliced a red pepper or chilli and it has spicy minerally aroma. Taste is very subtle. Choc and coffee and roasted malt with the vanilla there and the chilli coming through ever so slightly on the finish with a little hotness. Very nice but after the cedar wood version it had too much to live up to! Leighton (21886) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 10, 2011
Keg at Nate’s Outta Control Birthday Celebration - Oh, Spirit! Pours black-brown with a huge, beige head. Cocoa nose, dark malts, hints of chili via a bit of sting in the nostrils. Medium to big sweet flavor, great roasted malt character, good and understated chili notes, light sting, baking cocoa, dark sugar, wood. Full bodied with average carbonation. Mild warming finish, dry dark chocolate, light chili. Superb. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 9, 2011

Nate2Gs Birthday Bash at Kernel. Opaque brown beer, good tan head. Retains most of the characteristics of the base beer and adds mild chilli burn and vanilla sweetness. Nicely judged amount of chilli - not at all overdone. The vanilla brings out the tang of this Imperial Brown. Semi dry finish with the chilli warming a little more. Not really picking up much cinnamon. Nice!
