Pailhead (6540) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 28, 2015
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, caramel, molasses, vanilla, and roast. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige small khaki head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, caramel, and molasses. The finish has light-moderate roasted malt, anise, and a touch of vanilla. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

330 ml bottle shared by Alex (thanks!). Deep brown black with a tight mocha head. Rich chocolate, coffee, booze, brown liquor, a little vanilla. Medium+ body with fairly relaxed carbonation. Rich chocolate and coffee, booze, lightly fruity, vanilla, lightly tangy/vinous, lightly sweet, fairly bitter with a long, inky finish. Quite nice.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2017 Beer thanks to Beersiveknown. Fuck, Steve, you don’t know how grateful I am, cheers. Aroma: Strong coffee aroma, dark chocolate, light fruit, nuts, soft alcohol, intensive and very gentle. Appearance: Brown head, low, leaves lacing, color is black. Taste: A lot of dark chocolate with coffee, very intensive, dense, powerful, some caramelly notes, light plum and molasses, gentle alcohol underneath, wow nuts. Palate: Carbonation is low, body is full, finish is dark chocolate with nuts big as fuck, tottaly dense and sticky beer. What a beer. Like a hazelnut chocolate with coffee. Could it be the best beer in my life? Probably.

330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
Another excellent Kernel beer, my first dark beer from them in a while & every bit as good as their IPA’s & pale ales. An excellent beer with plenty of dark chocolate flavours & a nice, strong kick from the alcohol alongside nice coffee flavours & sweetness. Highly drinkable for the strength of the beer as well & exactly what I was expecting from this one.

wheresthepath (2335) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 15, 2015
Bottle from London Beer Lab. Despite its name this is pretty close to being black. There?s a thick tan head and a wonderful velvetty smooth mouthfeel. Chocolate up front with a roasted malt bitterness following through. You wouldn?t know it was 10%+, the alcohol is totally hidden and it slips down dangerously easily. A beaut of a stoot.

WilleLW (273) - Lund, SWEDEN - OCT 10, 2015
Black colour with a grey head. Aroma of molasses, liquorice, chocolate and sour vinous notes. Taste of dark chocolate, molasses and vinous characters with dark berries. Some complexity. Some whiskey. Dry aftertaste.
