Bottle. Pours dark black with hint of red. Little carbonation or head, head is yellow and while limited, it persists. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, toffee, dark fruit, plum, liquorice, dark caramel, hint of ash, with some pine hops in the background. Flavour is medium bitter, quite sweet, oily, with a surprisingly lovely smooth finish despite its ABV.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2017 27-MAY-2017. Over 1 year old. Same malt base, but far less hops left, which only makes it better. 7-4-8-5-16=4,0

8-MAR-2016. 4 months old. Sample 100 ml, courtesy of Maersk. Very dark brown, beige head. Smooth chocolaty aroma, with acrid roast transcending to greenish hops. The taste has velvety lightly sweet chocolate, moderate greenish bitter finish. Very good. 7-4-8-4-16=3,9

Bottle at a recent tasting, thanks Maersk! 9,8% abv. Pours black with a thin creamy head. Rich aroma of chocolate, caramel and coffee with hints of alcohol that render it similar to a chocolate liquor. Medium-thick body with pleasant texture. Taste is rich with cocoa, chocolate, some malt sweetness and mild notes of alcohol in the aftertaste. Great beer overall.

No head, pitch black. Roasted bread crumbs, some malt and a tint of beans. Black bread in the taste. Lots of alcohol and very roasted aftertaste. Easy and pleasant to drink though.

Bottle at home. Black with a beige head, disappears quickly, poor lacing. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate and cocoa, very pleasant and intense. Great balance between chocolate and coffee in flavour, there is some roast as well. Medium sweetness and bitterness, low carbonation, oily texture, Very good.

330ml bottle from Hoptimism. Very thin tan head, a little lacing. Dark black body. Nose is creamy coffee, roasted nuts, a little alcohol. Flavour is rich, creamy chocolate, dark berries, coffee, nuts, gentle alcohol, more dark fruits and dark chocolate on the finish. Light carbonation, sumptuous mouthfeel, smooth, rich. This is outstanding.

Pours black color, slightly haze, with unstable foamy light brown head. Visually low carbonation. Aroma: intense, rich dark and roasted malts aroma, which takes on vanilla, coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate, milk chocolate, supported with hop aroma, which takes on dark fruits, like plums etc. Flavor: rich roasted malt flavors, which takes on espresso coffee, toffee, with hint of peat, note of liquorice and spicy, herbal notes of hops, which flavors steps forward in finish. Finish is sticky/dry. Body is full, carbonation is low, texture is soft.

Alkohol: 10,2% obj.
Do samego końca centymetrowa warstwa przykrywa piwo i towarzyszy mi w degustacji.
Smak: W smaku sporo słodyczy w postaci czekolady, karmelu, toffi.
Wysycenie: Niskie.
Podsumowanie:
Moje kolejne piwo z Browaru The Kernel.

Pours black with a caramel colored foam. This tastes superb. Perfectly balanced with a nice kick. The texture is smooth and foamy, an excellent mouth feel with a good body. The best I have seen in a stout. Again the sharpness of the beer stop it becoming too malty or tasting like burnt. Its crisp, sharp, with an excellent finish.
