COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We have brewed a beer to commemorate the birth of our son. It is a strong dark beer which hopefully will keep until he is of age to drink it. Brewed in collaboration with Phil Lowry, Simon Siemsgluess and Chrigl Luthy. Bottled.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Toby, 30/12/12. Pitch black with a thin dirty tan head that clears to the edge. Nose is dark malt, treacle toffee, bitter chocolate, booze. Taste follows, bitter chocolate, tar, molasses, booze. Full bodied, smooth on the palate, roasted finish. Good strong tackle!

Bottle at Chrisos tasting 30/12/12. Thanks Toby from Kernel. really balck with caramel tones. Tan head and some legs. Huge Coffee, caramel aroma. Massive bold, but balanced flavours of coffee toast caramel . Hides the alcohol well with only a small amount of booziness.

(Bottle) Black colour with dense, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of sweet espresso, dark chocolate, cacao, liquorice, burnt sugar, caramel and a vinous whiff of alcohol. Malty, roasted taste with strong black coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, cacao, molasses, liquorice, salmiak and a solid coffee/cacao bitterness in a long, vinous finish. Full body, almost oily mouthfeel. Quite sweet. Quite a mouth-filling experience, hardly subtle and balanced is probably not the correct word either. But what in impressive imperial stout. Lovely!

Pretty much everything Kernel do I love. This was the exception. Way too much alcohol burn. I ended up pouring half of it down the sink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Benzai (15301) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2011
Bottle @ home, shared with Joes. Pitch black, opaque color. Decent sized brown head thats quickly gone. Smell coffee, smoked, bacon, liquorice. Taste coffee, alcohol, lightly smoked bacon. Didnt really like it at First, but after warming up it gets softer and a little sweeter which in this case makes the beer better. Medium but soft carbonation, full body.

Bottle. Strong coffee and smoke aroma. Warming alcohol. Sharp edge of alcohol, to be precise. Not properly balanced.
