330ml bottle shared with blankboy and garthicus. Opaque black, decent frothy light brown head. Alcohol, prunes, raisins, olives and plenty of overroast malt .... nice. Taste is ... good, but a bit burny - and oddly sweet: like an extra roasty and boozy Trois Pistoles, but salty. Light body, a bit astringent, decent carbonation, quite a bitter, slightly burnt boozy finish. Good, but I like the little one better. Bottled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as chocolate. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, combined with medium notes of alcohol and light notes of chocolate, leading to a dry and roasted finish. Thanks yespr for sharing. Taster from bottle, courtesy of reakt, 27th Nov 2010. Very near black, still and oily. Nose is musty and sweet. Taste has leather, boot polish and lots of warmth plus a goodly amount of salt and iodine. Too heavy and thick for me that night but would re-rate to see how it is ageing. fiulijn (20515) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 17, 2011

It pours a dense black color, with a generous head, brownish. It has a strong aroma of roasted malts, with some liquorice, molasses, dust, but also perfumy; deep and interesting.
Liquid chocolate flavor, with very good presence of dark caramel, tar, roasted malts and coffee, moderate liquorice; the sugars are well present too, rounding up the mouthfeel. Correct bitterness, some from the roasted malts obviously, but without disturbing. The alcohol warms the mouth like a perfect winter sipper.
This is a very fine brew.
Bottle at home. Black with a mostly lasting brown head. Looks great. Lovely aroma of chocolate, licorice and roasted malts. Big presence of alcohol in the flavour, bitter finish.

14 June 2011, bottle. black and thin. cose is chocolate liquorice, meaty, chopped up raisins and prunes. med/thin body and mildly fizzy. big, slightly sweet and sugary barley wine. sugary vanilla raisins, very burnt raisins and an oak finish. AshtonMcCobb (6609) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 15, 2011
33cl bottle @ Brewdog bar. Pours opaque black with close to no head but swishing it round the glass makes the cappuccino appearance in. The nose is burnt and winey and then intensely chocolate. The taste has dark chocolate, liquorice and maybe even a fennel note. The palate is big in structure, creamy in texture and quite clean on the end though there is a persistent note of alcohol and burntness. Overll, very nice porter! tommann (3754) - Dudley, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 13, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours jet black with a thick, medium head. Aroma is leather, bourbon and tarry roast malt. Taste has lots of tar to start. Hot and thick tar and bourbon in the finish. Cracking stuff. Borresteijn (7111) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 13, 2011
33cl Bottle, a gift from nate2g, thanks Nate! Black colour, brown head. Aroma of black liquorice, alcohol, roasted malts, sweet chocolate. Flavour is sweet, slightly alcoholic, hard roasted malts, lots of liquorice (drop), firm roast and hop bitterness, bit of vanilla. Fullbodied. dantheman278 (1361) - SCOTLAND - JUN 7, 2011
Inky black pour with a small brown head which fades to nothing. Rich aroma of molasses, chocolate, coffee, slight smokiness. Taste is intense and sweet, with more chocolate. Syrupy yet smooth, more subtle smoke. Coffee bitterness and slight booze on the finish, definitely a sipper but not cloying, mostly hides the alcohol. Absolutely awesome.
