Bottle at the Kernel Brewery on 25 Aug 2012. Poured a really dark brown, with a dense beige head. Aroma of pine needles, treacle and earthy malt. Tropical fruit flavours, with lots of grapefruit and mango, with a roasty undertone. Finish was ash, burnt sugar and resin. Ferris (16751) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 17, 2014
Draft - Light roast and pine. Jet brown with a decent brown head. Lots of pine and almost no roast. Nice mouthfeel, but no balance with the ’black’. bierkoning (13747) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - JUN 10, 2014
Bottle. Dark brown color. caramel, hints of roast and grapefruit in teh aroma. Roast, citrus, grapefruit in the somewhat tart flavor. Grassy notes. Firm, well balanced beer. jerohen (2359) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - JUN 4, 2014
Bottled, thanks to Arjen for sharing. Black colored, lasting lasting. Hoppy nose with roasted malts, some licorice. Flavor is dominated by licorice, quite some bitterness from the hops. Probably well brewed, but the combination of hops and licorice in black IPA’s just don’t work for me.

33cl bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Lovely citrusy, resinous grassy aroma and taste, with great background charcoal and woody notes. Pours a fine jet black colour, with a bubbly light tan head. Great lively, bitter finish, moreish and another great Kernel beer. ppils (143) - - MAY 16, 2014

(Draught at the brewery, 12 Apr 2014) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of coffee, pine needles and a touch of mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with coffee, pine needles, grapefruit, resin and a generous piney/resiney bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and quite well balanced and drinkable for its strength and relative bitterness. Very nice. Idiosynkrasie (8068) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 23, 2014
330ml bottle. Hazy, darkest brown colour with late awakening, average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Citrusy hoppy aroma with a grassy touch, roasty dark malty background. Taste is initially dominated by grassy and slightly citrusy hop notes with roasty, dark malty background, later more malt dominated with hints of coffee. Very nice, but could be a bit more spicy and "dirty" to scratch perfection.
