Simcoe/Cent/Colum. - Bb 10/2015, danke idiosynkrasie für die BIPA mini-serie. Suave exotic fruit basket (pineapple, maracuya, grape, sweet orange) held under an upmarket dark chocolate fountain: aroma as it warms promises genteel goodness, mouthfeel and taste turn that expectation down a slight notch from world class to merely excellent: quite bitter, near-ashen black malts obfuscate some of the hop goodnessM whilst an earthier European, herbal bitterness sneaks in and up on the palate, making it less juicy than its nose promised. Also tend to prefer a fuller, seamier mouthfeel in Black IPAs, but this was nicely drinkable. madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 16, 2015

Very dark brown beer. Short pale tan head. Lovely fresh piney hop nose. Crisp dry palate. Mellow dark malt base. Minerally piney hops - fresh and strong. A little fruit!! Black IPAs always seem to accentuate the piney qualities of hops and supress the fruit but here I fancy a spot Of Nelson like hop fruit. The dark malt turns creamy. A really nice Black IPA - best I’ve had I think!

Simcoe Columbus Centennial version. 6.3%. Hops are noted on the rear label. Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and slightly soft. Mild dark malts, softish and airy. Nice hops - well integrated pine and light hop skunk. Nice mellow orange and tropical fruits. Finishes smooth with mellow dark malt and mild coffee and sweeter citrus. Very nice indeed.
not a massive fan of black ipa’s but this was better than a lot i have had malty aroma and taste with a sweet finish Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 22, 2015
Keg at Euston Tap, London. Solid black. Light tan head. Whereas some black IPAs taste more like hoppy stouts, this does feel like an IPA in every sense, with just a kiss of ashy black malts to remind you. Otherwise it’s dominated by lovely fruity grapefruit notes. Good stuff. MrTipple (4968) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2015

20.4.2014. Cola appearance. Aroma has pine, herbs, hops, sth roasted, liquorice. Taste of resinous/piny hops, roasted malts, earthy. Palate is smooth, medium carbonated, medium bodied but surprisingly light. Finish is a mixture of roast, coffee, bitterness and herbs. Nice. Bottle via BeersIveKnown cheers Steve; cloudy dark brown pour with a thin tan head, hint of pine and roast in the aroma, taste has some citrus action, chocolate, quite big bitterness. Beersiveknown (5284) - NORTHERN IRELAND - JAN 23, 2015

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; cards on the table I’m scared to add a new beer so I’m reviewing a retired one with a different ABV, ok dark brown pour velvet beige head, pine and roasted malt hop, pine comes through in the taste but not as massive, dominated by roasted malts, I’m enjoying this greatly but the taste doesn’t match the aroma, oh it has a zizzy carbonation.
