RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2014
Bottle Rehills Ncl. Light grapefruit and satsuma aroma, nice soft spicy bitterness, with earthy notes and a pleasant yeasty finish. There’s some creamy hints, really enjoyable and a great single hop IPA.

Bottle from Craven Arms, Birmingham. Cloudy gold. In smell and mouth taste, this is a slightly dusty and sweet hoppy tasted beast. A small beast really. Proficient, rather than essential.

dmac (6429) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - FEB 26, 2014
Bottle at RBWG GT. Poured an uglier light gold body under a foamy white head. Aroma and flavor of earth, toast, dirty citrus and orange. Fuller bodied with strong carbonation. Meh to ok.

Benzai (16528) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - FEB 26, 2014
Bottle @ home. Hazy orange color, medium sized white to off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts and nice cascade hoppyness. Taste malts, hops, nicely bitter. Not as hoppy and fruity as I had expected. Still nice though.

Idiosynkrasie (7847) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 22, 2014
330ml bottle. Hazy golden colour with average, thick, forthy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Citrusy hop aroma, notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, biscuity malt basis. Taste is minimally sweet biscuity malty, citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of lemon, grapefruit, a touch of orange, slightly biting, spicy bitter hoppy. Maybe not the epitome of Kernel - but a perfect example to see what all their APAs and IPAs are about.

12 oz bottle sample at RBWG. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have herbal, resiny, mild plus citrus hops with pale bready malts. Dry earthy bitterness. This is a solid ipa I’m glad to have tried.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Bottled 12.12.13 - Pours orange with a small white head. Aroma of grassy hops, citrus, crisp caramely malts and stingy notes. Taste is smooth, citrusy, grassy and juicy with crisp maltiness and lingering bitterness. Finish is crisp, citrusy, grassy and juicy with a lingering bitterness and crisp maltiness. Nice, balanced and tasty single hop IPA.

330ml bottle. Pours hazy orange gold with a medium head. Aroma is bready papaya and lime. Taste is bready papaya throughout. Creamy mouthfeel.

deyholla (12033) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Bottle at RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice pine note, slight resin with a bit of citrus underlying and light grain. Flavor has a nice earthiness with grass and pine as well as a bit of a grain backbone.

Leighton (22051) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2014
Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. Pours mostly clear gold, fairly effervescent with a thick, frothy off-white head. The aroma has a decent amount of melon, along with juicy orange and grapefruit, some bready malts, too. Medium sweet flavor with rounded, bready malt character, low bitterness, a bit of ripe orange, tangerine, mild pine. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, lightly resinous with sticky pine, ripe citrus fruits, further melon, orange, underlying bready malt sugars. Quite a tasty IPA with nice, juicy hops but it doesn’t sing the way a great Kernel IPA does. Still, it’s damn drinkable and better than most IPAs out there.
