Bottle Rehills Ncl. Light grapefruit and satsuma aroma, nice soft spicy bitterness, with earthy notes and a pleasant yeasty finish. There’s some creamy hints, really enjoyable and a great single hop IPA. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 17, 2014
Tap at the Old Fountain cheers to Ken for the beer. Pours glowingly golden with a small, firm white cap on top. Nose is chock full of tropical fruits - nice melon and mango focus. Plenty of grapefruit and citric tang comes through. Taste is tangy citrus fruits with more of the big tropical focus - mango and melon work hand in hand. Sweet with moderate bitterness running through the middle for a lengthy finish> A nice treat after a great tasting. Good stuff Garrold (5171) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2014
Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Cloudy, pale orange colour. Bright white, bubbly, lasting head. Steely, pithy, fresh grapefruit. Some orange squash. Taste is fresh sweetness. Pithiness throughout. Light sweetness on the palate, giving way to a grapefruit juice bitterness. Not the massive bosh I might have expected. But no less a beer for it... drsordr (2635) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2014
Bottle pour hazy light yellow. Nose pine.citrus,resin. Taste similar to nose with balancing sweetness. Mild set fruit. Light bitter finish. Leighton (21083) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2014
Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. Pours mostly clear gold, fairly effervescent with a thick, frothy off-white head. The aroma has a decent amount of melon, along with juicy orange and grapefruit, some bready malts, too. Medium sweet flavor with rounded, bready malt character, low bitterness, a bit of ripe orange, tangerine, mild pine. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, lightly resinous with sticky pine, ripe citrus fruits, further melon, orange, underlying bready malt sugars. Quite a tasty IPA with nice, juicy hops but it doesn’t sing the way a great Kernel IPA does. Still, it’s damn drinkable and better than most IPAs out there.

12 oz bottle sample at RBWG. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have herbal, resiny, mild plus citrus hops with pale bready malts. Dry earthy bitterness. This is a solid ipa I’m glad to have tried. Idiosynkrasie (7421) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 22, 2014
330ml bottle. Hazy golden colour with average, thick, forthy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Citrusy hop aroma, notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, biscuity malt basis. Taste is minimally sweet biscuity malty, citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of lemon, grapefruit, a touch of orange, slightly biting, spicy bitter hoppy. Maybe not the epitome of Kernel - but a perfect example to see what all their APAs and IPAs are about. jerd16 (226) - Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2014
Pours amber with small frothy white head. Aroma is grapefruit, sweet tangerine, resinous pine and some sweet malt. Familiar cascade feel, fairly bold but nothing extraordinary.
Taste is sweet at first, offering sweet citrus and caramel malt before some juicy grapefruit pith takes hold and leads the beer to a rambunctious pithy-bitter finish. My one grievance is that for a Kernel beer it seems slightly watery. Maybe I have just been spoiled by a seemingly infallible Kernel-creamy body present in all their previous beers. September 16, 2014 - at Craft Clerkenwell; draught. Hazy orange-gold with a lasting pillowy white foamy head. Lush aroma of C-hops, fresh grain, light grass and fruity malt - just so. Taste follows - tropical fruit (pineapple and passion fruit) - maybe some floral rosehip character too - lovely stuff; balanced, while not boozy, respect that alcohol. Solid body and draught carbonation, medium-long bitter finish; crisp, a bit dry - fruity and definite alcohol presence. Just what Kernel does so well. lusikka (7813) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 1, 2014
330 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange amber colour with a white head. Aroma of juicy fresh fruitiness, caramel and biscuit. Rich flavour of fresh hops, caramel, mango, grapefruit, pine and herbs. Full bodied and very smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden. Very enjoyable.
