flying_pig (1627) - SCOTLAND - FEB 13, 2013
330ml Bottle from Vino Wines, Edinburgh (£3.15):
Pine hops and some grapefruit with a stronger than usual tropical fruit aroma that shines through. There is some good fruity notes with some mango, orange and citrus fruits as well as a little spice. This one is also very well balanced on the nose with touches of apricot toward the tail end of the beer.
Cloudy looking, orange amber colour with a thumb sized, wavy looking white head that has a bubbly appearance and stays pretty well.
Bitter hops with pine and grapefruit complimenting them followed by plenty of tropical fruits and sweetness with apricot, orange and mango all featuring. There is a nice citrus flavouring in there as well and the balance is excellent.
Medium bodied and very refreshing with a lot of pine bitterness and some sweet, fruity notes to it. There is a moderate amount of carbonation and the finish is slightly dry and bitter.

Up there with the best IPA’s I have tried and certainly one of the best English beers I have reviewed here. This one started very fruity with good pine and grapefruit helpings that went down great and were very refreshing. A perfect example of the style, falling somewhere in between a regular and a double IPA.

330ml bottle ([email protected])
Lovely hoppy aroma - fresh and fruity. Taste is a bit plasticky (got this in some other stella-hopped beers, I wonder if that’s the link?) Drinks very easily for 7.4%. Nice balance between aromatic fruity hops and bitter bite, and more than adequately supported by a sweetish malty backbone.

33cl bottle from Sourced Market, St Pancras. Hazy dirty brown orange with lasting thin beige head. Good aroma of lime, tangerine and pepper. Nice and full in mouth. Balanced. Good bitterness beautiful fruit all the way through. One of the best balanced of the Kernel beers I’ve had for a bit. Yep, that’s really pretty good. Delicious in fact.

DruncanVeasey (8260) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2013
330ml. Lightly misted gold with a slim fine head. Aroma of mango, flowers, sweet red apple, anise-like hints and outspoken alcohol. Intense, dry, a little warm and boozy with a soapy floral character; pepper and late pale nutty notes. Very bitter, very husky. Doesn’t quite convince.

jackl (8296) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Bottle from Sourced Market. Consumed on the train up to Darlington. The pour’s a hazy light orange color with a modest white head. The aroma’s woody pine, fresh forest, notes or orange marmalade and a bit of rustic, salty brine. The taste is tropical fruit squash (mango, orange, pineapple). Hints of cheese and baked sweet bread. Medium body, active carbonation. Overall, a pretty decent beer! Another solid effort from the Kernel boys.

Cloudy, orange, brown pour, small head leaving a lacing. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, sllightly earthy, floral, long bitter finish. Nice IPA

Bottle. Hazy gold with an off white head. Aromas are woody, herbal and tropical fruit with creamy oak and pine. Spicy with pineapple and grapefruit. Peppery alcohol with bready yeast. Flavours are syrupy pineapple and lemon with spritzy yeast and woody pine. Some seawater with a spicy, dry finish. Very good.

Bottle 330ml. @ ChrisO Snow Tasting.

Unclear medium yellow orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, sweet hop, tropical fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130120]

Light haze on this amber - gold beer. Good white head. Palate is soft with fine carbonation. Floral Centennial orange starts with a little hop skunk. Very nice tangy lemon - lime in the mid, almost sherbet. Subtle mango - apricot underneath. A lovely hop fruit medley! Mild creamy malt base. Moderate bitterness in the aftertaste. Kernel are scarily good!

Unbelievably this is still going strong. Good orange peel and orange, touches of lemon and grapefruit. Nice tang. Great!

Beermack (725) - London, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2013
33cl bottle (pretty fresh). Pours hazy orange - big fluffy white head and plenty of lacing. Aroma is juicy mandarin orange, pine needles, light citrus, grapefruit and a nice juicy hit of mango. Taste follows suit with lots of sweet tropical fruit character mixed with a hit of bitter oily pine resin and a lasting grapefruit/pine bitterness. Touch of light caramel in the background - hops doing all the work here thankfully. Medium mouthfeel and med/dry finish (although a touch of the sweet mandarin hits you in the finish too). Thoroughly drinkable - great IPA.
