Bottle. Hazy amber with nice white head. Sharp peppery aroma, musty, pissy. Musty sharp orange flavour. Bitter finish with a lingering musty taste. Standard kernel

Bottle from shop on Richmond Road, Twickenham. A hazy golden coloured pour with a medium off white lasting head on top. Great fresh hoppy, citrus, grapefruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, citrus fruit, grapefruit, slight tropical fruit, pine. Smooth and so damn drinkable, usual top quality IPA from Kernel. Need to get me some more of this beauty.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Hazy orange pour with a white head. Man alive that’s a good nose! Mango, kiwi fruit, tangerine, pear, peach. Peach, pear, tropical fruit and citrus explosion in the flavour. Long bitter linger. By Jove, I like this one!

Big apricot and citrus nose. Big and fruity with a full body. Hides ABV pretty well really. Some passionfruit, grapefruit and toffee. Dolid stuff.

Bottle. Good-looking orange pour .Graprefruity resinous hop aroma with notes of biscuity malt, Sweetish fruity flavour with some cracking hop bitterness happening. The Kernel rarely disappoint. If the only beer on the planet was the Kernel and it was sold everywhere, would it be utopia? Pretty darn close I’d say.

330ml Bottle from Vino Wines, Edinburgh (£3.15):
Pine hops and some grapefruit with a stronger than usual tropical fruit aroma that shines through. There is some good fruity notes with some mango, orange and citrus fruits as well as a little spice. This one is also very well balanced on the nose with touches of apricot toward the tail end of the beer.
Cloudy looking, orange amber colour with a thumb sized, wavy looking white head that has a bubbly appearance and stays pretty well.
Bitter hops with pine and grapefruit complimenting them followed by plenty of tropical fruits and sweetness with apricot, orange and mango all featuring. There is a nice citrus flavouring in there as well and the balance is excellent.
Medium bodied and very refreshing with a lot of pine bitterness and some sweet, fruity notes to it. There is a moderate amount of carbonation and the finish is slightly dry and bitter.

Up there with the best IPA’s I have tried and certainly one of the best English beers I have reviewed here. This one started very fruity with good pine and grapefruit helpings that went down great and were very refreshing. A perfect example of the style, falling somewhere in between a regular and a double IPA.

Beermack (725) - London, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2013
33cl bottle (pretty fresh). Pours hazy orange - big fluffy white head and plenty of lacing. Aroma is juicy mandarin orange, pine needles, light citrus, grapefruit and a nice juicy hit of mango. Taste follows suit with lots of sweet tropical fruit character mixed with a hit of bitter oily pine resin and a lasting grapefruit/pine bitterness. Touch of light caramel in the background - hops doing all the work here thankfully. Medium mouthfeel and med/dry finish (although a touch of the sweet mandarin hits you in the finish too). Thoroughly drinkable - great IPA.
