Hazy amber beer, little pale cream coloured head. Light semi dry palate. A little minerals. Smooth semi sweet floral Motueka takes the lead. Balanced nicely by mildly bitter citric orange in the mid and just a whisper of earthyness in the semi dry finish. Nice light floral IPA.

7 weeks on and the beer is now mildy hazy and palate is softer. Motueka still dominates with it’s floralness, the Citra bringing mellow orange and skunk. The Chinook a little lemon orange I suspect. Nice!
330ml bottle from the brewery. A hazy deep amber with a small, creamy & lacing white head with decent retention. Wow, the aroma on this to begin withis absolutely cracking. Unfortunately it tails off as it airs. A well melded combination of heady pine & spruce with soft lemon cheesecake, juicy undertones of peach, tangerine & grapefruit. It’s fresh, bittersweet & bright in the mouth too with lots of juicy peach & tangerine as well as pine, grapefruit & resin to the back. Some very gentle biscuity pale maltiness comes through underneath too. Medium body but well within the realms of clean, crispness. Medium carbonation adds a further level of dryness on the palate. The somewhat finish lingers well without being overly intense or tongue-stripping. Not hugely bitter, rather it’s balanced, refined & full of character. Bottle shared with Paul at The Kernel during Thomas’s special day, London. Pours cloudy, rich gold with a foamy, white head. Dry, grassy and piney hops in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with light and dry pine, toasty grass and orange citrus. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky, dry and lightly resinous finish with crisp grass, some dry yeast, light wood and pithy citrus. More restrained than some other Kernel IPAs. Excellent stuff. Bottle from Utobeer. It pours cloudy light orange, with a thick white head. The nose is citrus pith, hay, grass and earth. The taste is orange, tangy marmalade, hay, straw, grass, resin, citrus pith and earth, with a dry, citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough, but below average for Kernels typically high standards.
