Bottle. It pours an unclear, golden body under a dense, finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has a touch of alcohol, but not much. Citrus peel and a touch of pine cones too. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Citrus peel, resins and a touch of malty sweetness in the flavor. Nice bitterness too, lasting for a while. A quite nice one, well worth a revisit. Especially like how it hides the alcohol. 140315 Meilby (11645) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 15, 2014
Bottle 330ml @ homeomhper (25570) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2014
Pours clear deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, grape and hint of alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long warm and citrus fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottled. Cloudy pale orange, small head. Huge tangerine aroma. Sweet with near full body and rounded mouthfeel. Lots of tangerine, some honey. Intense alcohol finish. TBone (18106) - Pori, FINLAND - FEB 23, 2014

Deep orange color, small white head. Overriped berries and mango, gooseberry in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Very sweet and very fruity. Yeasty overriped fruits (banana, mango) flavors, some citrusy bitterness. Mouthfeel is a bit dead. Perhaps not the best bottle?

Lots of tropical fruits with pineapple coming through strongest, although grapefruit, mango and apricot also feature among others. There is a lot of sweetness with a strong hop presence and some solid, background malts laced with caramel.
Orange to amber with a slightly hazy body and a head that consists of little more than a patchy lacing across the top.
Sweet with a huge amount of tropical fruits coming through along with the mango, apricot and grapefruit from the nose, pineapple & hops too. Sweet malts and a hoppy bitterness round things off nicely but it is a beer that was starting to fade slightly
Smooth & easy to drink considering the strength of the beer, the alcohol content is very well hidden here with only a faint warming mouthfeel in places. The body is medium here with light carbonation and touches of spice. The balance was fairly good too and the beer started very refreshing and juicy.
This is another beer from The Kernel that started excellently with the smell coming through wonderfully and the alcohol content hidden almost completely throughout. The beer was very refreshing and easy to drink, particularly at the start. A good beer but if I’m honest I’m not entirely sure how likely I would be to pick the beer up again.
330ml bottle from Beermoth. Got a sinking feeling as soon as I started pouring and realised it was going to be flat. Really starting to get a bit tired of the bigger indies doing this.. especially considering the price! Aroma was a zesty tropical fruit yoghurt with a hint of pine, taste continued although didn’t come across like 9.6% whatsoever, more like 4.5%. Still waiting for that amazing Kernel beer that everyone else seems to have had. Fin (10841) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 15, 2014

Bottle 330ml. @ home.
Clear medium to dark yellow orange color with a small, quick quick, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, hop oil, wood, light alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light heavy bitter with a long duration, mango, hoppy, fruity, soft. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.
Sweet, hoppy imperial IPA tasting of strawberries, blueberries & peaches. A little alcohol taste but overall an OK beer.

Bottle from Brewery. Golden pour but no head... uh oh. Bit of classic Kernel tropical aroma but lacking punch. Taste is overwhelmingly sweet - caramel malt and bready backbone are there, but cloying sweetness strips away the hop flavour before the bitterness hits. Mouthfeel is oily but there’s no carbonation at all, which kills the beer dead. Flat and sweet and fairly unpleasant. Easily the worst Kernel beer I’ve had.
A second bottle, stored with my conditioning homebrew, is better a month later, albeit slightly stale and with the aroma long gone. Will stick with original rating as bottle was sold out of the brewery in that state.
Tried a third time, this time on keg at Craft N1. Uncarbonated, sickly sweet, sent back - bar said it was meant to be like this (!)
