So what to enter for my 10K rating? Not my 10K beer because I’ve yet to wrestle my backlog completely under control. So a good double whammy to also enter my 200th Kernel. A brewery that has given me so much pleasure over the last few years - it’s quite rude! Very hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry with mild carbonation. Creamy malt, trace of lactose. Strong floral Motueka does nice things to the Stella - tames it a bit! Whisper of skunk. Citrus spice and a touch of pineapple cube sweets. Dry and slightly creamy finish. Excellent balance of these 2 diverse hops and as always with this fantastic brewery - effortlessly drinkable!
Bottle shared at the brewery - thanks to Jack. Pours cloudy gold with a creamy, white head. Lots of salty pee in the nose, some lemon. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of rindy bitterness, some boozy kick, light minerals, fine bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, moderately resinous with ripening orange, tangerine, some pine needles. Nice IPA overall. UPDATED: JUN 9, 2013 Bottle at home, from Royal Mile Whiskies, 08/06/13.
Pours dark amber orange with a mahoosive light off white head.
Nose is juicy hops, citrus, bitter grapefruit, touch of biscuit, caramel, mineral notes.
Taste comprises caramel malt, hops, astringent bitterness, orange pith, light grapefruit notes, mineral tones.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish.
Solid IPA from Kernel but not one of my favourite hop combos.

33cl bottle from the brewery. Very hazy orange gold colour, cream coloured head. Some tropical fruit, but also a touch of light cheese on the aroma too. It’s full in the mouth, good mouthfeel and decent finish. Had this straight after the Simcoe IPA which was a mistake as I love Simcoe and this doesn’t quite live up to it, although the mouthfeel is good. Decent and very full in flavour.
