From old notes.
Pine and roast bottle nose.
Poured, deep golden orange hazy colour.
Very citric almost marmalady with a jiniper bitterness at the end which is well held together. Good.

Bottle at home. Poured a cloudy orange with a medium sized white head. Aroma of citrus, orange. Flavour is citrus, a little spice and garlic, bit of wood, medium dry finish, great length. More good work from Kernel but not their finest. danlo (3129) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2014
330ml bottle. 7.2%. Slightly cloudy orange amber colour, white foam head and flowery resin hop aroma. Sharp fizzy bitterness, resin hop flavours, some yeast and flowery hop/smooth bitter aftertaste. Leaves some back of the throat bitterness and dry resin hop notes in the finish. Quite a nice IPA. jmgreenuk (9703) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - NOV 11, 2013
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a very slightly hazy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is trademark Kernel with loads of grassy hop and nettles, grapefruit citrus and a little smooth caramel. The flavour is medium bitter. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A slightly creamy mouthfeel with a spicy pepper palate and a long spicy bitter finish.

(Bottle) Amber colour with huge, frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of gooseberries, orange peel, passion fruit, lychee and biscuits. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, grapefruit, orange peel, passion fruit, biscuity malt and a fairly bitter finish with generous amounts of citric, floral hops. More than medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Another great Kernel IPA with a fresh and generous hop presence (you’re spoiling us). Very nice. jerd16 (226) - Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2013
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines (Birmingham). First taste of Kernel and it will not be the last.
Pours golden with resolute head.
At first scent it produced a magnificent bouquet of orange and grapefruit with herbal undertones. Beautifully pungent.
The taste is one of commendable balance. Its a beautiful amalgamation of an IPA. With fruity citrus - orange and grapefruit rind, malt template with caramel and resin. Bitterness is at the heart but comes in the form of the grapefruit rind up front and then generic astringent tail at the end. Great beer.

Bottle at William IV (Magic Rock takeover) 10/12/12. 7.5% on this batch from June ’12.
Hazed mid amber with a thin off white head.
Nose is pine, hops, light grapefruit, touch of mango.
Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, orange pith, sugars, light caramel malts.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.
Decent enough solid IPA but at 6 months old perhaps not fresh enough to enjoy at its optimum! jcwattsrugger (12507) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - DEC 6, 2012

Very aromatic hops. Flavour has initial soft maltiness. Later there’s a moderately bitter hop finish.
