Cloudy dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Lovely even malt base, not roasty but robust. Fantastic piney hops with beautifully integrated citrus. The hops are strong but the malt base never loses it’s grip and balance. Finishes smooth with a little minerals. Another bottle on Christmas day revealed all of the above and developing red fruits. Imperial English Bitter? Who cares! A lovely lovely beer that is already getting better. A bit of a stunner!
bottle at home ... deep brown ... big tan head ... soft sweet roast ... big pine hop nose .... light fizz ... dark malts .. hints of bitter coffee ... very oily lime peel ... quite bitter ... not sure about this one. omhper (25962) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - DEC 27, 2011
Bottled at the brewpub. Cloudy chocolate brown. Grapefruity hop aroma. Above medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Lots of grapefruity and salty chocolate, really bitter finish. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 14, 2012
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a hazy orangey brown with an off-white head. Nutty, roasty nose with quite some citrusy aroma hops. Medium body, roast, nuts, licorice and again pleasantly aromatic hops. Dry, hoppy finish. Nice indeed. 140212 Leighton (22823) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2011
Bottle at home in London. Pours rich brown with a medium, light tan head. Aroma holds bundles of roasted malts, pine and grapefruit. Flavor is delicious. Medium sweet with a big roasted malt character. Some cocoa, light coffee, char. Lots of bitterness of grass, pine, earth and grapefruit. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sticky, roasty and resinous finish. Slight dryness. Dark roast malts linger right along with the piney hops. This is pretty much perfect.
