Bottle from Bottle Apostle. Hazy golden amber beer, slightly lighter than some of their pale ales, medium white foam head, which dissipates to nothing. Nose is quite earthy, tangerine, grapefruit, mandarin sweetness, slight floral. Subtle, earthy, delicate. Taste soft mandarin and tangerine, lots of chalky minerals, slight pine. T?his is subtle, but nice.

MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty bitter start, hoppy, some grapefruit, pretty malty, bit of citrus. Aftertaste: hoppy, citrus, bitter, grains and malts, bit grassy, some tropical fruits.

Hazed golden color with a fine white head. Fine intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Fine bitterness versus sweetness, and a semi dry texture. Citric, fruity and some herbal notes in the flavor. Tasty and refreshing.

Bottle at Jack in the Box, Altrincham. Hazy golden with a thin off white head. The aroma has lots of citrus. Orange and grapefruit. The taste is nice and fruity. More grapefruit and orange over caramel. Orange zest lingers in the pleasantly bitter finish. Lovely stuff.

330ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’The Kernel Pale Ale Mandarina Bavaria Centennial’, 5.3%, about 6 weeks old. Kernel rating #200. Golden orange, hazy, dense foamy off-white head leaves streaky lacing. Aroma is caramel, some liquorice allsorts, touch of orange. Body is smooth with tingly to spritzy carbonation. Taste is papery malt, grains, maybe a touch buttery, pine, some celery, pretty minerally. Very crisp carbonic bite. A touch over-fizzy and muted for my liking. Not Kernel’s best to celebrate 200 with, but a solid enough beer.
