The_Osprey (7881) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2016
November 2016 - 330ml bottle at home in Richmond, as ’The Kernel Pale Ale Citra Chinook Simcoe’, 5.3%, about 7 weeks old. Kernel rating #199. Golden yellow or orange depending on light, slight haze, still with a foamy white head, leaving dotted lacing. Aroma is papaya, touch of grapefruit, some Chewits sweets. Body is soft and light with tingly carbonation. Taste is straw, watery grapefruit, flinty and minerally, some apple flesh. Quite restrained and even a little on the watery side if truth be told. Taste doesn’t quite match up to the aroma. Nice but not a top-tier beer by their standards.

Bottle at home picked up from Bottledog KingsX. A love a good kernel catch up rate. A slightly hazed orange / golden coloured pour with a loose white head that sticks around. Aroma is nice earthy raw bready grains, faint tropical fruits, lychee, peach and lemon. Flavour is composed of semi sweet bready grains, grain husks, mellow mixed tropical fruit salad, grassy finish. Palate is is easy going, moderate carbonation, slightly grainy. Good sessionable pale.

500 ml bottle, best before 22.02.13 at tasting on 18 November 2012. Usual Kernel hazy straw/pale gold colour. Quite restrained for a Kernel but none the worse for that. Decent grassy and leafy hop character throughout. Very fresh and tangy. Hints of grapefruit and peach/apricot. Finishes just a touch sweet for my taste.
