heavy (2890) - Split, CROATIA - DEC 26, 2012
Draught @ The Kernel Brewery, Arch 11, Dockley Road Industrial Estate, Bermondsey, Greater London, England SE16 3SF.
Unclear hazy medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light heavy hoppy, grass, orange - citrus, mango, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dry, mango, fruity, spicy hops, yeasty notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
05/12 On tap @Animal, Madrid, shared with teddybeer. 7.1% ABV. It poured clear golden body with small head. Weak, but fine citrus hop aroma. Same story goes for the flavor, fine but weak, lightly bitter citrus hop, some honey malts. Thinner body with shorter lightly dry finish. Pleasant and refreshing, even with this much alcohol, feels like 5% at most. Quite typical English IPA, less hopped, felt quite "macro", didn’t knock me down. Keg at the Kernel Brewery. It pours cloudy golden orange with a small white head. The nose is tangerine, orange, spice and dough. The taste is dry, zesty citrus, tangerine, orange, grapefruit, spice, dough and resin with a bitter, citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Crisp and refreshing. deyholla (11741) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 1, 2012

Bottled 26/10/12. I’ve had this a while but it was still within its ABV. I note that The Kernel have shorter BBE periods for their hoppy beer these days and state to drink fresh. There’s no doubt that the hops aren’t singing like they should here and no doubt would have were it younger but all the same it did have lots of sharp hoppiness, but there’s a sweetness which I think has come from age. The hops are prevalent but a touch of fusty fart is around too. I still enjoyed it, just not as much as I could have.

A white headed, slowly gushing, orange colored beer, purchased at Utobeer , Borough Market, London. Smells good, but not very English. Norhtwestern ’’C’’ hops, I imagine. Cascade and Centennial, and maybe some Citra? There is a fine sweet-scented, caramelly malt aroma to blend in here. Taste is superfruity and hoppy. Almost catty, with a light astingent fruitiness... Crisp texture. Body is light to medium full. Finishes on the sweet fruity side. Very likeablle for fruit fanatics. But hey, what a hop feast! JohnRMurdoch (4917) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAY 5, 2011

The Kernel’s first ever kegged beer, conditioned especially for the BrewDog bar in Edinburgh. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange. Big, fruity nose with some honey. Melon, orange, generally big and hoppy. More honey, some caramel and big thick fruit taste. Mouthfeel is sticky and full. Finish is sharp and tangy, a really nice IPA. Reminiscent of the Black IPA (same hops, maybe) but also very different.
