Warm finish, peaty roast, dry coffee, dark chocolate, some grass and dirt. Lingering peat, dark sugar and cocoa. Very excellent beer. tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2010
Bottle, 33cl, picked up directly from Evin - special thanks mate!
Consumed @ Chirs O’s pre NY tastings.
Aroma is blackcurrant, sour cherries and oak. Taste is chocolate, coffee, vanilla, leather and roasted malts. Finish is peppery and roasted with a nice measured bitterness and a dossage of good chocolate.
Fine blending indeed and one to look out for again. Pure mad on the imperial stouts and this one is classy. erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - NOV 14, 2012
Beautiful dark brown bodied with a foamy big tan head. Lacing in the glass is stunning. Rich mix is dark roasted and toffee malts with forest and spruce hops. Some dark pecan and sticky fruit shining through. Smooth, not very thick palate with small carbonation. Very rich in flavour, worth the 9% abv. Dark chocolate, cookie dough and a solid amount of bitterness. Warming aftertaste. Very well made and although not off beaten tracks it is characterful and tasty. A stunner, without pretence. (33cl bottle, trade with Leighton, thanks!) planky84 (3494) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2011

In bottle. Very dark brown beer with a lacy, dark tan head. The taste is salty liquorice strap balanced perfectly with hop bitterness and (bourbon?) whiskey. Lovely oily mouthfeel. 50belair (3697) - Florida, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Bottle thanks to my friend in foggy London town. Dark brown pour with and off white head. Chocolate, caramel, and coffee aromas. Kinda hoppy with chocolate and dark roasted malt flavors. Ethereal (2471) - Los Angeles, California, USA - AUG 10, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2011 Bottle from the brewery, drunk at home, 30th Nov 2011. Deep brown with a small amount of diminishing brown head. Nose is a nice mix of sweet and bitter notes, mocha and alcohol. In the mouth there’s licorice, some chocolate and some peat. Lovely and smooth, doesn’t feel like 9%. Very enjoyable.
