375 c&c from Cap Tap. Pours murky dark brown with a slight, transient tan head. Med ++ body. Flavor starts chocolate/date, moves to dark treacle/brown sugar, then does a bourbon thing followed by hints of rum and hints of wood. I'd rather have more rum and less bourbon. Drier than expected; bitterer than expected. Heat's present, but not an issue at all. Finishes earthy chocolate, bourbon, hints of rye and wood. Delicious!

Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers this beer poured a very dark matte brown with a huge creamy brown head that lingers and left great lacing. The aroma was malty with molasses, cocoa, toffee, bread dough and bourbon. The flavor was malty with strong bourbon followed by dough, wood, toffee, a bit of cocoa and a hint of herbs. Amazingly long finish. Thick and full bodied. Marvelous!

On tap at Hops & Pie. Dark brown colored appearance with a lingering light brown head. Aroma of toasted oak, bourbon, caramel malt, vanilla, mild fruity esters and a light rum barrel spice. Similar flavor, rich, malty and woody with moderate sweetness, light bitterness and a touch of chocolate. Medium to full body with a light dry feel and a lingering finish. Rich and complex overall.

Tap hops and Pie, black color with off white head. Notes of heavy coconut, caramel, bourbon, and heat. Pretty boozy. A nice big beer from abbey but the triple barrel baptist was superior this outing and almost the same ingredients as this one

Oaky, boozy, bourbon notes are certainly there, along with a hint of dry red wine which balances the overall sweetness and some brown sugar and vanilla notes. Outstanding.

December 23, 2017 - bottle from Binny's. Dark brown pour with limited head. Aroma was strong rum, bourbon and dark fruit. Taste was sugary sweet with the rum and bourbon, a touch of spice came late and the finish was dry, woody and sweet that had a tequila type feel.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2018 375 ml bottle from Tavour shared with Tmoney99 and the Dutch's crew. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, cocoa, dark fruits, oak, dry, earthy bitterness, dark rum, caramel, general spices, very good. This beer and a few other Port/Lost Abbey beers just landed in Cincinnati, nice.
