12oz bottle, fresh release. Served at cellar temperature. For the record, this is aged in Jim Beam Bourbon barrels.
Pours lightly hazy reddish brown with a two finger beige head that leaves nice bubbly rings and sheets of lacing and recedes to a light to wispy cap.
Aroma is bourbon, toffee, alcohol, caramel, vanilla, oak, bread, molasses, touch of fruit & anise, as it warms some chocolate and coffee come out. Very good strength. Smells amazing.
Flavor is oak, bourbon, vanilla, oak, toffee, caramel, nice dark fruits, anise, good bit of herbal hops, pretty woody, fairly sweet, mild to moderate bitterness, mild to moderate alcohol. Finishes a little weak for a barrel aged beer, doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, but still quite good.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sticky, good carbonation.
This is really fresh and is pretty good out of the gate. The aroma is amazing, very complex. The flavor has a good bourbon presence, a lot of oak, hops could use some time to mellow, although it’s not very hot, some age still might help.
Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy head. Aromas of bourbon, malts, citrus hops. Flavors of light malt, booze and some sweetness barroso2501 (66) - Brasilia, BRAZIL - SEP 17, 2015
Sem espuma abundante, mas bem gaseificada na boca. Maltes evidentes e algo de coco. Otimo conjunto. AlmostHome (70) - Gulfport, Mississippi, USA - MAY 29, 2014
Deep brown in appearance with a very thick head. Not that aromatic which was surprising given the label information. Great taste, that hits mid-tongue and leaves little to no aftertaste. Malty richness with hint of spice. Above average beer.

Bottle from homer321, obviously a shelf turd. Pours a deep red color with a small off white head. Aromas of boozy vanilla, oak. Taste is sweet with minimal hop presence for the style. Flavors of wood, marshmallow, bourbon, caramel. Mid sip reveals chewy oak and burnt sugar. Finishes with a wallop of what the fuck is going on here. Not good by any means. Overly boozy, under attenuated, oak aging doesn’t fit and not enough hop bite. Scroll past this dumpster juice. phaleslu (10551) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 26, 2014
12 oz. bottle shared by dudeabide- thanks again, Nate! Pours a clear caramel color with a small off-white head. Aroma of earth, leaves, oak, and florals. The flavor follows the same lines, but boozier. Not much spice. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a boozy mouthfeel. Not sure what the aim was here, but it’s not impressive.

Bottle to taster (shared by dudeabide). Looks good for the style; a translucent amberish brown with foamy off-white head that has a slight yellow tint to it. Smells semi-sweet, malty, and oaky. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Solid, but forgettable. GreatDane1632 (1169) - North Dakota, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Poured from a 12oz bottle. The beer pours a muddy brown with half finger head that disappears quickly. Aroma is that of an old ale: leathery, caramel, yeasty. Flavor is much more than I was expecting; very much an old ale but with additional flavors lingering on the tongue mostly from the barrel aging. Very nice sipper. freekyp (2387) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - OCT 20, 2013
Vanilla spicy notes permeate the aroma and flavor with a hint of raisins and some hop bite near the end. Not shy, the alcohol warms throughout. Tastes like an oatmeal cookie dipped in bourbon. Really smooth and drinkable for such a heavy beer. kermis (14478) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - OCT 12, 2013
Pours hazy light brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, malt, raisins and over ripe fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 11, 2013
Sample @ GABF 13. Pours a clear amber brownish beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma of bourbon in the background, some boozy upfront and caramel base overall. Flavour is very sweet, alcoholic and bourbonny. Medium long finish. Very nice brew.
