Tap at Jeffrey. Odd cloudy pot. Nose of spice and dried fruits. Tastes of candied orange peel, lots of chirstmas spices, nutty, fruitcake, raisins, and cough drops. That’s an odd one

Pours orange/brown, hazy, thin head. It’s a little sour, very funky, christmas spicy, orange peely, and weirdly reminiscent of Sucrettes cough drops. I don’t know if I like it but it’s enjoyable in its weirdness. Sensation of sucking cough drops in a horse barn.

Bad recipe or just a bad keg? Either way this was a dull beer that I think did not survive the trip across the ocean well. I would love to get some fresh beers from Monarchy as reference because it is possible they suffer from the same issue as many British beers. Even so scroll past this one for now.

Aroma / Appearance - A caramelly red rich base helps support a ring of white head. Figs, spice, and caramel malts are fine; the blast of medicinal mint is a turnoff.

Flavor / Palate - The medicinal tastes of cough drops bothers the palate and unbalances a promising beer. Lasting a long time for a sessionable beer this is hard to figure out. So strong that it masks the other aspects this made me almost want to skip the next sample (Nurnberg).

Dark orange amber body, medium off white head, soapy lacing. Candied peaches, caramel, brown sugar, orange, nutmeg and cinnamon. Medium to full bodied, mellow carbonation, noticeable sweetness. I think I get what they are going for and I like it as a single pint.

Draught at Bierkraft. Spicey X-mas beer with what I thought tasted like clove, though no clove listed in description. Intense spicy taste overall.

Draft at Churchkey. This one poured a hazy dark amber color with an off-white head. Aroma was notes of lemon, some candied orange notes. Flavor was citrus, notes of dried fruits - raisins, yeah that’s it. Spice notes. Not bad.

Travlr (26406) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 18, 2013
Draft. Murky amber brown color, off white edge head. Aroma of sweet lemon, light licorice. Taste is very sweet, juicy, citrus, fig, spiced figgy finish. Interesting.
