Tasted 2/4/2016. Draught at The Monk, Fremantle, WA. Poured a hazy golden amber with a two-finger off-white foamy head that diminished slowly and laced well. Carbonation low to moderate with fine to medium sized bubbles. Aroma subtly of pine. Taste of sweet malt and a hint of pine and with a slight bitterness; not as bitter as the mid-strength Reserved Ale. Light body. Crisp and smooth with a soft mouthfeel with slight bitterness on the finish. Not that good for an IPA. MBlessing (1309) - Württemberg, GERMANY - MAR 18, 2016

Amber colour with a thick cream coloured head. Stone fruit atoma with oily and slight pine undertones. Quite a big bitter punch, not particularly big on any one flavour. Hints of pine and grass but none of the previously mentioned stone fruits. Nearly a four on the palate, quite thick but not quite there for me. Another goodie, big and bold hops, lots of resinous pine character. Tangy, spicy, with a bit of burn.

On tap at Archive Beer Boutique July 2013. Don’t see beer from these guys in my part of the world very often which is a shame because this is a really solid IPA. Tap at freo beer fest. Deep amber/golden pour. Nose has pine needles and citrus. Loads of caramel malts too. Taste is a bitter pine explosion. Real well balanced stuff. Awesome WA ipa!

Draft at Beervana in Wellington. Clear deep amber color, thick tan head with solid lacing. Bright aroma of juicy fruit, orange, pine. Taste is bittersweet pine and citrus. On draught @ the Monk Brewery & Kitchen.
Looks almost oily in appearance; a chestnut hued copper in body with fine carbonation and good clarity aside. A compact and tight head of foam lasts the length and manages some good lace. Vibrant, citrussy, piney and floral hop nose meets notes of biscuity, sweet malt and burnt toast. Hop fuelled, oily palate with a higher alcohol note late that adds a dredging warmth. Lasting pine and biscuity sweet finish with caramelised citrus and musk dominating the rest. Nuance of smoke and charred nuts comes out late. Meaty and rough overall with a bitterness that is both assertive and offers to break up the sweet malt and fruit esters. Thought this tasted as if the ABV had run away from the brewer as it seemed too boozy for a modest 6.1%. Has the hallmarks of a killer IPA, and with a little refinement I reckon the Monk will get there. Not bad!!!
