ClarkVV (7050) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 13, 2018
Draught at CBC Boston, 9/23/17.
Deep copper-bronze, light-to-moderate haziness and an off-white head that immediately fizzles away.
Peachy-papaya and strong grapefruit-pineapple sit rather punchily on the nose with a less-than-subtle amount of alcohol behind it. Between the overabundance of bitter, pithy, resinous citrus, twangy pineapple-papaya, sweet malts and messy alcohols, it's not lookin' too good.
And so it goes in the mouth. Not a complete trainwreck or anything, and there is some attempt at reasonable attenuation and juicy citrus flavors, but it's just few-and-far-between finding anything to get exited about. Rich, lightly bready malts amplify twangy pineapple with alcohol and resin on the end. Rather thick and dull in texture; undercarbonated. Not a great intro to The Veil....

Pours a hazy, orange-yellow, with minimal head. Aroma is full of tropical and citrus fruit. Flavor is also heavy on the tropical fruit, with some citrus notes in the background. Alcohol content is well-hidden. This is a winner!

Murky light orange pour, larger head, good solid head retention, good lacing. Floral aroma, tropical fruit, citrus zest. Pine and resin up front, milder tropical fruit, grapefruit, honey sweetness, yeast, pith, light spice, maybe a bit of garlic (which works here). Medium body, almost creamy mouthfeel, resinous, spicy aftertaste, no alcohol heat. Thanks Cory!

From notes. Pour at Zwanze Day 2017 at Jolly Pumpkin on September 23. The pour is a chunky looking yellow orange with a thick cap of pretty dense off white head and a couple spots of lace as it falls down. The aroma is pretty good. There is a ton of tropical fruits and a light citrus zestiness behind it. The alcohol definitely comes through on the back end with a bit of a bite, but it’s lighter than I thought it would be. The flavor lets me down a little. The four comes through with a strong tropical fruitiness and a light malt before the booze creeps in on the back end. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a softer carbonation and a lingeringly spicy citrus and alcohol soaked tropical fruit. This is something else, I just wish the booze wasn’t as heavy. 8 4 7 4 15

Draught at Boston CBC. Hoppy tropical some fruity creamy and full of haze. Very tasty.

4 oz. draft at Copenhagen Beer Celebration, Boston, 23 September, 17. Cloudy golden, foamy head. Aroma is honey, grass, pale grain. The flavor has the honey sweetness in the center with a very thick yeasty mouthfeel. The bitterness really stacks up as you sip it. Gets aggressive. Mouthfeel and bitterness got a tad overwhelming. ABV is no where near hidden. Good in small doses.

Sample at Zwanze 2017, Jolly Pumpkin. Aroma is tropical fruit, spicy, citrus, pretty juicy. Appearance is hazy as hell, off white head, golden. Taste is flour, citrus, zest, spicy, boozy, eh. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, spicy citrus aftertaste. Overall, I was expecting better.

Hidden alcohol. Ripe tropical aromas and flavors. Bit more aggressive finish but not overpowering. Smooth and easy to get effed up with this one.

Can thanks to Andrew. Pours a cloudy orange with medium white head leaving spotty ring. The aroma is earth, pine, dank, grapefruit pith, orange peel. Medium body, juicy upfront, lots of earth and resin on the back end. Tropical fruit very nice on this, boozy but still approachable, really enjoyed this.
