"The Legend". Brewed using a generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley malts, along with the majestic Fuggle hop, to create a wonderful, full-bodied flavour with subtle banana, cherry and rich fruit overtones.

A peculier tale:
Theakston’s most famous ale takes its name from the seal of the Peculier Court of Masham, which was granted back in the 12th century. It was the custom at the time for the church to administer the law, but this proved too arduous a task for the then Archbishop, who was based in York. So, with due archiepiscopal aplomb, he set up the independent Peculier Court, headed up by the Peculier of Masham.

Good solid ale. Slightly less complex than Riggwelter and goes down quicker than the strength and appearance would first have you believe. Best served at room temperature but at the risk of being shot down as a beer-heathen, it quenches the thirst well slightly chilled (NOT cold!)too

Wezzielad (48) - Ilkley, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2018
Appearance is black with a red tinge to an extent no carbonation really. Smell is of dark fruits and brown sugar, may be a hint of vanilla. Taste is sweet, a lot of dark fruit and sugar again, it's sweet but not in a caramel way. Must be the brown sugar in itself. A good beer and worth a try. I personally think Black Sheep Riggwelter is better but this is a good beer

Still a nice ale, but I have a long memory of when I first tried it, from a counter mounted wooden cask, at the Norfolk Arms in Arundel, in 1976. Then, it was a more powerful brew at 6.3% with a little more body. First taste, I was hooked!

From a bottle. Pours a clear cola with a thin tan head. Aroma of toffee and caramel. Flavors are moderately sweet pit fruits and banana. Light bodied but pretty tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2017 Rating from a historical source, where I gave it a fairly high 4/5. The little memory of this that I do have is that it was a lovely dark beer. Will have to try it again some day to confirm.

Piepenhenrich (1288) - Steinbach, GERMANY - DEC 7, 2017
Pours dark brown with a beige head. Intense roasted malt flavors combine with a pleasant bitterness to provide for an enjoyable drinking experience. Decent brew!

Bottle @ home. Nice deep dark red to amber-brown color, small to average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, lightly dark malts, raisins, caramel. Decent body and carbonation. Decent beer.

A complex mixture of fruit and bread. At first reminds of raisins and apples, but the after taste is a very soft bread flavour. Sweet and slightly bitter. For me, it is slightly too sticky. Carbonation gives it a small edge.

Hopverdju (1645) - BELGIUM - DEC 1, 2017
Donkerbruin bier met ecru kleurige schuimkraag. Geur: redelijk gesloten, bosbessen, wat jenevers, licht zoet. Smaak: licht bitter, wat karamel, licht fruitig. Goede koolzuurprikkel. Medium body. Afdronk: licht bitter, ietwat droog.

deepdrinker (369) - Leeds, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2017 liquorice aroma, back in appearance with a spicy taste . Full body beer great on a cold night
