"The Legend". Brewed using a generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley malts, along with the majestic Fuggle hop, to create a wonderful, full-bodied flavour with subtle banana, cherry and rich fruit overtones.

A peculier tale:
Theakstons most famous ale takes its name from the seal of the Peculier Court of Masham, which was granted back in the 12th century. It was the custom at the time for the church to administer the law, but this proved too arduous a task for the then Archbishop, who was based in York. So, with due archiepiscopal aplomb, he set up the independent Peculier Court, headed up by the Peculier of Masham.

Pours a dark brown with reddish hue and a thick tan head. Aroma is very welcoming with sweet malt and dark fruits. The taste starts off with light malts and an apple crispiness, then finishes with a slight bitter tartness and sticky aftertaste. Medium bodied, crisp and easy to drink. The apple taste really makes this enjoyable.

Pours with little to no head. Color is Coca-Cola. It really looks like coke. Gentle aroma has the Coca-Cola aroma, a very faint roasted malt and burnt notes, aroma of an old cellar. Even palate is Coca-Cola like with lesser carbonation. Taste has burnt notes and some dark malty taste, faint Coca-Cola taste, cold cellar like notes, bitterness from hops leaves the mouth a bit dry. Very refreshing, excellent that it combines the sensation of drinking Coca-Cola and beer. Not too rich, but not watery either. An excellent and interesting beer.

This was my first legal pint I had when I turned 18, but I only came back to it this year. Its held up really well, even after years of hurting my taste buds with IPAs and imperial stouts. Theres a great malt flavor, with a darker color and a richer, sweeter flavor than a standard bitter. The hop profile is earthy, giving it some spicy notes that work with the malt sweetness. Good stuff.

I had forgotten how good this beer is. A lovely flavour and texture of malt and just a hint of hops in the background. They could up the hops and this would be a good black IPA. Overall very good and reminds me of those Sundays, in my younger single days, watching the Grand Prix at home when I would only drink this stuff.

Thanks Mali Perica! :D Clear daaark ruby body, small off white head. Fine malty aroma, primarily raisins, dried apricots, perfumy. Just classy. Taste... Mild maltiness, honey, dark cherry perhaps, vague cardboard, vague... Erm, coriander, bitterish, perfumey, yet interesting. Strange, great mouthfeel, yet some not so great flavors waft in. Bitterish finish. I can see how this stands out among regular English ales.

This Autmnal/Winter Beer is packed full of flavour,at first it seems kind of average but then the mighty flavours kick in,full of darkish malt lollies. Is it peculier?Actually it does seem to posess a strangeness that is hard to describe in mere words.Suffice to say the malt profile unfolds in a gradual and subtle manner, hops are barely there and there is good strength ,carbonation low,in other words a seminal version of what an old Ale should be.

Dark brown colored, medium- beige head. Aroma is of caramel, dried fruit, some toffee, bit apple, light chocolate. Taste follows the nose with nice caramel and toffee malty notes, apple and dried fruit and light chocolate for the finish, light+ earthy and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bit oily.

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark ruby, almost black with a one finger tan head. Nose is malty, dark fruits, prunes, Christmas cake and some banana sweet bread. Medium mouth feel, fairly sweet and malty and plenty of dark dried fruits. Get some sweet banana bread and Christmas cake as with the nose, finished off with some candied dried orange peel bitterness. Really rather good, and this was a beer I always ignored up until now. Buying this again for sure !
