Sample at brewpub on nitro. Dark brown with brown creamy head. Roasted malts, coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Nice bitterness that balances with the sweet, some mocha on the finish. Decent.

Had this ruby-hearted black draft on nitrogen at the pub. Yes, well-done to Dublin tastes, as it boasts a chocolate and coffee aroma, medium-lean smooth body with tangy acidity mid-palate, and a long roast note in the finish. This was my second place choice (of four) in blind tasting for best stout in Sonoma County...at the time. Would be happy to say it tied for first, if ties had been allowed. (Would like to taste this side-by-side with OVL, but for now I’ll say this one is best.)

Cask. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt combined with a note of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and lighter notes of soy sauce, but also with a light note of acidity from the roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish. The body is light.

Draft at brewpub. Dark brown pour, creamy tan nitro head. Roasted malt and light chocolate. Standard dry stout. Creamy mouthfeel.

JaBier (8445) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2010
Sample at the brewpub on 8/6/10. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma is coffee with a bit of chocolate and roast. Roasty malt flavor with creamy chocolate and a thin coffee finish. Finish was a bit disappointing, but overall a good beer.

Black. Not much to say. Watery and bland. Typical Irish stout but plain and weak.

Lubiere (14341) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 30, 2009
A deep dark stout with a thick resilient moka nitro head. A pleasant chocolate aroma with milkey, creamy qualities. In mouth, a smooth silky chocolate, light bitterness, a bit light but good. On tap at brewpub, August 16 2009.

nimbleprop (9042) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 16, 2009
Watery, opaque black with a ringing white head. Nutty aroma, toasted malts. Flavor has more nuts and toasted malts but does it all without being heavy. Thin, slightly dry finish. Sessionable but average.

Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 10, 2009
Cask. Completely opaque black with a dense light brown head. Hard roasted malt aroma. Medium body, flat with a very soft mouthfeel. Solid base of hard roasted malts with a light malt bitterness in the finish. Solid offering. 110709

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Hardroasted malt aroma. Smooth roasted malt flavoured, light coffee accent and subdued sweetness. Slight acidic flavoured into the far finish alongside a mild roasted coffee and dark malt flavour.
