Very easy drinking, wife likes this. Roasted malt, coffee, and nice clean bitterness. Actually pretty surprised at this one. johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2014
Pour is black with nice head...nose is minimal a little hops and malt..mouth is malt and anise...something is lacking in this one...drinkable yet needs something...maybe dark fruit....drinkable but not fantastic. YigSvartka (304) - Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 4, 2014
Mid sized head. Opaque black. Unimpressive roast, malt, caramel, and hop aroma. Somewhat thick for an IPA, but not unappealing by any means. Creamy. Pleasing combination of roast, chocolate and a fair amount of hop. Simple, but satisfying nonetheless. Ratman197 (14842) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - OCT 15, 2014
Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, cocoa, earthiness and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, cocoa, earthiness and light pine with a crisp dry lightly bitter lingering cocoa finish. Benzai (15611) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle shared with Erwin Van Moll and Stefan @ Van Moll Brewpub. Nice dark red-brown color with a nice dark red glare coming through. Nice color, but not black as I expected. Small to average sized beige head. Aroma is lightly malts, oxidation, a hint of cocoa, a hint of leaves. Taste malts, lightly hops, leaves, lightly bitter. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle - Roast malts and some cocoa with some toffee sweetness. Deep mahogany with a rich beige head. Roasted malts, bitter hops and a decent malty bitter, ashtray finish. Interesting and more on the malt side than the hops. fiercepanda (615) - Missouri, USA - SEP 24, 2014
A black beer with a small tan head. The aroma is smoky malt and citrus. The flavor is citrus peel and roasted malt. maekchu (3917) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 23, 2014
Tap at Minnesota State Fair, Land of 10,000 Beers section. Light chocolate, some anise, minimal aroma hopping. Dark translucent brown. Big roastiness, a touch of licorice. decent chocolate. Medium body. Not bad. Could use a bit more hopping perhaps. haddon90 (1634) - Newport Beach, California, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a decent, tan head. Roasted malt aroma with a nice, strong, hoppy finish. Smokey taste with a hop presence. Amazing balance between the two. Really nice brew. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 13, 2014
Draft. A PRetty hop-forward black ipa, the malt body is overshadowed by citrus hops.
