12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning, very reasonably priced. No indication what the age is. Clear, very dark brown color. Rocky off white to light beige head. Aroma’s: Roast, toasted, bit ground coffee. Same thing retronasal, with some light sweetness and fruit added. Flavor is moderate sweet, strong roasted, moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes dry, heavily roasted, almost ashy, moderate bitter. Nice, ehm, porter. ljthiessen (1348) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 3, 2014
Bottle. Very dark brown pour with almost no head. Dark roasty malts with some caramel in the aroma, a touch of hops shining through. More hops in the flavour, but not a lot for a black IPA. Lightly burnt, roasty malt flavour with a touch of caramel and fairly bitter at the end. Medium bodied. Decent flavour, but a little imbalanced and not incredible. Opaque black pour with a tall tan head.
Roast malt aroma. Sweet and nutty.
Lightly sweet flavor, nutty roast malts that were mirrored from the aroma.
Not much hop aroma or flavor makes this black IPA lean towards the stout side. Knappster (34) - - JUN 15, 2014
This brew was delivered by Reid D - nice smooth dark hoppy traditional IPA - went well with the barbecue and Spurs victory vs Cryami heat

12oz bottle. Pours black, slight tan head. Coffee, chocolate aroma, taste is roasted coffee and chocolate. Bit of bitter at the back. There’s not much IPA about this, but it’s a tasty porter.

Coffee and raisn nose, not strong. Mahogany, thick tan head, good lacing. Medium body. Smoky charred oak, raisin accent, parsley, grass. Very slightly vegetal in a not so good way. Solid, but like so many IDAs, it comes across more like an hoppy porter. islay (2764) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2014
12 oz. bottle, consumed on 1-30-14. Pleasant aroma features cookie, brownie, light black licorice, cumin, and char scents. Pours a very dark brown with a small amount of beige head. Ordinary appearance. In the flavor, hops are noticeable but overpowered by the roasted malts. Roasted coffee and vanilla flavors. A bit fruit-juicy in the finish; grape popsicle. Light to medium body. Fizzy, frothy, and a bit lively in the palate. Simple and forgettable overall. Iphonephan (6989) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JAN 25, 2014

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 I love dark IPA’s and this is definitely one of my favorites. Extremely hoppy but well balanced and with a smooth finish. Absolutely delicious! djroehler (290) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 13, 2013
Bottle. Very dark brown, thick tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt. Taste is rich dark roasted malt, coffee, bitter and herbal hops, then citrus comes through.
