Pours black with low creamy white head, aroma is dominated by roast with some grassy hops. Taste is mostly roast with a pretty bitter finish, tasty novels (424) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 12, 2013
I liked this beer more than I thought I would. Pleasant hop bitterness with a malty aroma, has some nice brown to black color, and a great balance. wheresyourball (572) - El Cajon, California, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Bottle shared by Steve - thanks! 12 fl oz bottle, poured into a tulip, cloudy dark brown. Nose is malt and hops. Flavor is bitter with some citrus, roast and malt. Not very well balanced, overly bitter and dry.

Dark body with off white head. This is definitely more on the stout side of the black IPA style. Like a really nice stout with noticable hops, rather than just a darkened or slightly roasted malt IPA, which is more typical of black IPAs. Anyway, this was unique and very tasty. 48FanInCali (851) - California, USA - MAY 14, 2013
bottle. Not bad. Moderately hoppy with some notes of pepper and roasted malt.

Good overall flavour but the palate and after taste starts out rough. Builds on itself; the second pint is much better than the first.

Aroma is citrus American hops, roasted malt, chocolate. Flavor is a battle between hop bitterness and roasted malts, the flavors of which seem to clash. The finish is a bit harsh as well as the roast and hops continue to fight it out. An interesting beer, but one was enough. wilnatp (692) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and malt. Taste is slightly bitter like dark chocolate and French roast coffee. Very good. oneeighthcuban (106) - - APR 29, 2013
Smell is mostly roasted malt flavors and characteristics and not so much in terms of hops. Has a pretty bitter finish, but I feel like the malt used is far too roasty. Wish this had more hop flavor and characteristics. joergen (28102) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 27, 2013
