COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The rich darkness is not excessive as is sometimes seen in other craft iterations. A medium high hop flavor and aroma befits this style. The caramel and roasted malt flavors and aromas are enhanced with a well-controlled fruitiness.

Very good Black IPA with an ABV of 6.5%. Nice up front hop aroma with a nice malt finish. A great beer for any season.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 I love dark IPA’s and this is definitely one of my favorites. Extremely hoppy but well balanced and with a smooth finish. Absolutely delicious!

Dark body with off white head. This is definitely more on the stout side of the black IPA style. Like a really nice stout with noticable hops, rather than just a darkened or slightly roasted malt IPA, which is more typical of black IPAs. Anyway, this was unique and very tasty.

Dark red brown color with light tan head. Strong caramel and malty aromas for an ipa, but definite earthy hop presence. Taste is sweet as expected with a moderately bitter finish. Body is medium heavy with a slight oily feel. I really enjoyed this beer.

Very easy drinking, wife likes this. Roasted malt, coffee, and nice clean bitterness. Actually pretty surprised at this one.

Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice earthy pine note with backing dark grains and a roasted note that works nicely with the pine. Flavor is roasty throughout with more roast up front and an earthy pine note that comes out in the finish.

Weak in the aroma department, yet fairly big on taste. Pours a really rich dark brown, near black, with a good inch of dark tan head that leaves behind moderate lacing. Great blend of toasted flavor thar hits first with a follow up of pretty good hop finish. I have had previous Cold Spring beer and this is one small step for beer but one giant leap for the brewery in product. Great job, will drink again to support local. ( And I rather enjoy it)

Bottle. Very dark brown, thick tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt. Taste is rich dark roasted malt, coffee, bitter and herbal hops, then citrus comes through.

Black IPA in terms of bitterness, but not so much in terms of hop flavor/aroma. Body is ok as is appearance; Finish is long and roasty.

Skyview (6034) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 8, 2012
Sampled from 12-oz bottle supplied by distributor. Pours an opaque dark brown colored ale with an average sized beige head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some nice lacing. Aroma is light but can detect the typical 3 Cs hops, plenty of citrus and grassy hops with some very light toasted dark malt. Taste is light to medium bodied with flavors more distinct of multiple hops and light toasted dark malt. Finish is well balanced with both citrus/grassy and light malt aftertaste that slowly disappears. A solid Light Black IPA throughout.
