Aroma is immediate bread, caramel, nuts, toast and coffee. Pours Dark with a nice beige head that is smooth. Taste is bitter then onto a nutty sweetness. Medium bodied with strong carbonation giving a feeling of thickness to its texture, finishes wet and mildly bitter, sweet tastes left on your lips. Overall a good brown. I was pleased. On tap at some hole in the wall in two harbors. Pretty average brown ale,. Ok commonmac (1263) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 29, 2014
Tap at Psycho Suzi’s. Plastic cup. Dark brown color and a frothy head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Initial taste is more crisp than expected but packs the roasted malt takes over. Surprisingly less meal like than I anticipated. Relatively easy to drink and a clean finish. I think the coffee nature brings the score down a bit but an average effort all around. If you want a brown ale from MN, you could do worse than the Lost Trout.
