3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light head and lacing. On tap. Sweet malty nose. Really light beer that has watery palate with slightly bitter finish. Not really my thing but not terrible.
Can. Molasses, maple syrup, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Black with large brown head. Moderately sweet maple syrup, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Body pretty light - metallic finish/aftertaste. popephred (272) - Plainfield, Illinois, USA - OCT 13, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2017 I picked this beer up at Aldi, as I was curious as to what they had to offer in the realm of Stouts. my expectations weren't High, and I suppose as far as Aldi goes this isn't bad. this is a very thin body Stout, which when poured, provides a dark brown body topped by a quickly diminishing head of tan foam. mouthfeel is watery, and any notes of chocolate or coffee in the aroma quickly dissipate through the tasting, even though I tried the beer at room temperature, which should have brought out its notes. not bad, for Aldi beer. Deep brown/black with a creamy, dark tan head.
Roasted brown sugar, chocolate aroma.
Taste is very sweet at first....milk, chocolate malt, overcooked brown sugar, maple syrup, root beer.
Leafy, earthy bittering......some bitter walnut flavour.
Body is pretty thin....despite all the busy darker elements....weak, overall.

Tap. Pours clear black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is odd, not really maple, more sasparilla perhaps? Rooty, woody, yes some maple, cocoa, roast malt. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, a bit weird. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Ronritter (875) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2016
Not my favorite style but I did like this one quite a bit, with its sweet smoked aroma with the taste of maple and roasted malt.

Keg @ Red Cow 50th. Deep brown pour with a tan head. Nose suggests strong sweet maple and milk chocolate. Brown sugar. Very sweet smelling. Flavor is unsubtle in your face maple and chocolate. Very sweet and sludgy. Full body, oily. Not my thing. Travlr (26404) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 13, 2016
Draft at Red Cow. Clear maroon amber color, thick tan head with solid lacing. Aroma of brown sugar Taste is shockingly sweet burnt brown sugar. hfmejias (1297) - Marshall, Minnesota, USA - JAN 9, 2016
12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured black with a nice brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and maple. Taste is quite sweet (maybe a bit too much), maple, roasted malts and some coffee notes. Interesting but perhaps a bit on sweeter side for my taste. euniceradio (563) - Worthington, Minnesota, USA - DEC 6, 2015
12oz bottle to tulip. Pours black, small brown head. Aroma of toffee, cocoa, caramel, candi, dark dried fruit. Taste of same with a little cardboard. Finish is semi-dry and good bitter. Mouthfeel is light, mod carb. Not sure where the maple is. asedzie (835) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 5, 2015
Bottle. Nose is pronounced butterscotch - some diacetyl aroma - beneath there is soy sauce. Flavor is exotic - a kind of toffee coconut. There is also some barley malt flavor in there somewhere. Finish is vanilla with a bit of alcohol. This is exciting for a Minnesota winter (seasonal), a bit like if this part of the world had a baltic porter - a strong somewhat nasty beer (in a good way), that makes sense for this particular place and time/weather (tiempo en el castellano y otros idiomas).
