UPDATED: OCT 29, 2017 Purchased at Gerrard’s Market, Extra is a Dry-Hopped French Farmhouse Ale brewed by Brasserie Thiriez. The scent of hops, herbal notes, wheat, saison, and funk are felt upon the nose. The body has a surprisingly large character of hops. A reasonable amount of carbonation accompanies the hoppy and saison complexion. Farmhouse yeast provides a nice funk from beginning to end after you get used to the hops. An alcohol presence of 4.5% is overwhelmed by the ingredients of the beer. Saison offers the familiar tone to a dry hopped ale. Wheat adds another flavor to the saison body. Lemon brings a light bite to the mouthfeel. The lemon is crisper when you get to the bottom of the bottle. Banana gives the beverage some weight and compliments the farmhouse yeast used. Clove plays upon your tongue and spices the take. The spice bleeds into the watery, dry finish. Thyme is experienced in the finish as well. Sage is comprehended with the watery take. The water quality is exceptional. The water captures the flavors of the herbs used. The funk blends beautifully with the water. The finish is watery despite the dryness felt. Cheers. Prost. Draft pour. The beer is a clear yellow with a white head of foam. Doughy and herbal taste. Some grassy notes. Medium body and moderate carbonation.

At FOFA, pours a hazy golden yellow with some nice head and lacing to it. Smell is yeast, bread, white pepper, spices, and grain. Flavor most of the same. Super dry finish on a medium body.

Poured cloudy yellow color with an average to large frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate herbs, citrus and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium spice sweet flavor with a medium spice sweet finish of moderate duration

On tap at York River Landing, Maine. Earthy, bready malt, followed by traditional big, peppery yeast notes from the saison strain. Finishes firmly bitter. A great table saison -- I’d drink this every night with dinner.

Hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of grass, pils malt, toast, earth, some hay. Taste of earth, grass, hay, earth, pepper, and a dry finish.

750 ml bottle from Mr. B’s Wine & Spirits on sale for $6.99 (probably not too fresh). Hazy, deep, golden to yellow appearance with a fluffy white head and light lacing. Aroma of toasted grain, bread, light yeast, mild hops, light peppery spice and hints of citrus zest. Similar flavor, adding moderate hop bitterness balanced by light grainy sweetness. Light to medium body with a crisp feel, ample carbonation and a light dry finish. Drinks kind of like a Pils.

On tap at Lord Hobo, Cambridge, MA. Clear pale gold with a white head. Aroma has a lager-like quality, with a bit of skunk, floral notes, grass, and spice. Flavor is similar to aroma, with additional spice and some funkiness. Has a dry finish. Not bad.

Hazy golden amber pour. Big white head. Plenty of lacing. Huge skunky aroma that slowly gives way to a nice malt note. Hard to get past the skunk though. Big chewy malt flavor. Bitter.

Bottle as pictured. Had no idea what to expect but came away very impressed. Might use the Dupont yeast? Definitely has a bit of a barnyard funk feel to it, but smooth. Lovely European saison.
