budedou (979) - Saint Etienne, FRANCE - MAR 31, 2016
A dark amber beer with huge head. Nose is very slightly sour with brown malt notes. Aroma is caramel like, sweet, notes of licorice, nut, some sourness mixed with acidity. Sourness is very low comparative to Belgian ones, easily drinkable but less complex than expected.

nimbleprop (8437) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 30, 2015
750ml bottle, #415, 2011 vintage. Pours a hazy copper brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has wet cork, dried leaves, wet dog. Flavor has a little bit of brown sugar/malt, some cooked greens, a little vitamin C, some cork, a little faint jam. Finishes dry and not overly thin. This has seen better days. If you haven’t

Lilja (3256) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 1, 2015

Riktigt trevlig.

Svesse (8613) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - FEB 8, 2015
(Bottle. Vintage 2011, bottle no 354. 6.5%) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, slightly sourish nose with caramel, oak wood, dark fruit, ripe cherries, raspberries, hints of balsamic vinegar and a touch of nutmeg. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, oak wood, dark fruit, blackberries, cherries and a slight acidity in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Very tasty, with a gentle acidity and a sweet and sour finish. Excellent balance. Very nice.

[6063-20131115] 750mL bottle. Mild plasticky floral pot pourrie aroma. Hazy, dark brown body with a quick creamy off-white head. Bitter grains and sweet toasted malt flavour. Medium-full body. Interesting but surprisingly fluffy. (7/3/6/3/16) 3.5

In short: Some kind of extra-roasted Flemish Sour ruined by cosmetic/soap aroma and flavor.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed one year after purchase. Bottle at 6.2% (listed at 5.8% on ratebeer).
The look: Very dark brown-black body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose is roasted, toasted wood bringing a certain spicy sensation, woody red wine, black cherries and a scented component that I found very much reminiscent of my wife cosmetic (mascara? foundation?). Body is slimmer than expected from a 6.2% beer, lots of carbonation, a fluffy texture. Taste is dark cherries skin, tannins, soap, lots of wood, crunchy caramel, cosmetics, roast. Finish is both dry-roasty and also tannins-astringent. This could have been a good beer, some kind of cross between a roasted stout/porter and a Flemish Sour, however its annoying cosmetic-soapy-perfumy character was just too much for me. I bet all my exes who called me " heartless" would feel pretty stupid and they’d take me back if they saw me sob everytime I open a disappointing bottle of beer.

jercraigs (10510) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 29, 2013
2013-11-15. Dark brown body with a small beige head. 3++ Aroma is vaguely vinous, lightly earthy and lightly fruity. 7+ Flavour is interesting, lightly tangy, mild fruit over moderate malt. Pleasant mild oaky undertones, like mild new oak. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation 3+ Quite subtle but has some lovely nuance to it. Nice stuff! Bottle, 2011 vintage, shared by JoeMcPhee

Thanks to fiulijn for this gem. Deep brown pour with a thin white head. The nose is of earthy oak and a touch of soft tartness. Nice and softly lactic with a bit of herbal and earthy character. The beer has a nice chewy earthiness and a touch of oaky woodiness. Has a bit of cedar and some interesting resinous character. Vineous finish with a lot of complexity. Lovely brew.
