COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Floor malted English Pale Malt and Biscuit malts, along with extensive aging, give this interpretation of the Barley- Wine style ale a drier,toastier character than sweeter versions. Dried fruit aromas and a sherry-like finish.

Golden amber color, small head. Aroma is malty and fruity with a touch of oak. This is the first barleywine that I’ve had that was served in a wineglass! Not complaining because it worked. A big and bold aged in oak barley wine. Malts are bold, slightly sweet and very smooth. Hops are slightly spicy. Well balanced. Smooth taste with a slightly oiliness. Reminiscent of a nice sherry. Touch of oak, cask aged 3 years. Incredibly complex flavors. Nice barleywine, worth seeking out. The food at this place is also amazing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a noticeable alcohol bite.

On tap at the brewery: Slightly hazy orange color with a slight film (tan) on top. The aroma was a very unique candy grape with some nice malts. The flavor was very sweet...candy grape, malts, and some alcohol burn in the finish. The feel was soft and thick.

Slightly hazy orange color with a creamy off-white head. Strong grape tootsie pop aroma. Rich sweet malty, caramel, and grape tootsie pop flavors. Pretty thick feel, with a somewhat dry finish. My favorite Thirsty Bear brew!

1999 brewed. Copper color and hazy appearance. Very sweet aroma - caramel notes. Great flavor, sweet up front, slightly bitter finish. Great barely wine.

brewed in 1999. Served Thansgiving week 2002. Extremely smooth. Little head and little carbonation. Light PNW hop aroma. Hoppy flavor with toffee and alcohol. Well attenuated and bittersweet. recommended.

2/21/04. On draft at Toronado Barley Wine Festival ’04 in San Francisco, CA 2/21/04. 1999 Vintage. Straight orange amber color. Rocky, off-white head. Small, but with very good head retention. Decent, spotty lacing. Aroma is of orange candy, slightly metallic and with some brown sugar sweetness and depth. Pretty lovely. Mellow amber malts and rich honey creep in with the first taste. Caramel malts and rounded hop character too. Pretty smooth body, but there’s a bit of a metallic edge (probably from subtle oxidation). Finish is long and very smooth. Very drinkable and quite elegant, but lacks the bang of a great aging beer.

Draft. Rich deep amber with a HUGE off-white head. Sweet malt aroma, spice, and a bit of something resembling wine that turned to vinegar. Caramel malt, and a slightly burnt flavor. Enough hops to keep it interesting. Nice and complex.
