COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brown and caramel malts give this classic British style brown ale a lovely mouth feel and a fragrant, toasty malt aroma.

NOTE: They sometimes serve "Grizzly Red" in place of "Brown Bear" and use the same labeled spot on the sampler tray. Check if you are unsure.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear browned amber with a thin tan head. Soft nutty malt on the nose, a touch of toast. Medium-bodied, malt, crisp with a touch of astringency on the edges. A soft earthy hop note. Toast into the finish, lingering bitterness.

Draught at the Thirsty Bear bar in San Fransisco. Medium brown head. Res-amber color. Very malty aroma with a light roasted tuch and some caramell. The same in the taste and with a small bitterness that is typical for this style of beer.

A bad brown. Tastes strange. Pours a very nice red with a thick head. Smells good, like vanilla. Taste though is off. Very bitter, from start to finish, and not in a good way. Stay away from this one. Had on tap at the brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampler at ThirstyBear, some caramel flavor but ultimately bland at its station in the sampler. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 13, 2012
The lightest brown ale ever...amber pour with a white head. Swee toffee and sugar notes, a bit of toast, and bread. Light citrus peel and floral hops. The flavor is a bit watery. Some toast and bread malt sweetness, very mild hop notes, and a bit of cardboard.
